JUAN RAMÓN JIMÉNEZ
A LITTLE BIOGRAPHY

    Juan Ramón Jiménez was a Spanish important writer in the 20th century.

    He was born in Moguer (Huelva) on the 23rd of December of 1881.

    When he was 12 years old he went to Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz) to study.

    When he was 15 years old he went to Seville to study painting.

  When he was 19 years old to Madrid and to met Ruben Dario, a very important modernist poet.

    In that year, 1900, his father died and then he felt ill.

  First, he travelled to France and then he come back to Madrid because of his disease.

    When he was 31 he lived in the ''Residencia de Estudiantes'' (Half of Residence) in Madrid and there he met many important artists.

    When he was 35 he got married with Zenobia Camprubí y Aimar in New York (U.S.A).

    He travelled to Cuba and Puerto Rico and he lived there too.

    He died in Puerto Rico on the 29th of May 1958 when he was 77 years old.

    His most important work is ''Platero y yo'' (Platero and I), it was published in 1915. In 1956 he got the Nobel Prize.
