Halloween or Halowe'en is celebrated on
the night of October 31st.The term Halloween is shortened from
All-hallow-eve.This date comemorates “the all Saints day”.People believed that
at Halloween the souls of the dead revisited the places where they once lived.
Well, that's the traditional story. But today in Britain Halloween isn't really
a frightening festival – it's fun! There are always a lot of parties. At these
parties, people wear masks and costumes. They dress as witches and ghosts, or
as Dracula or Frankenstein.

This tradition is Celtic, but not only this
tradition,we must know that Halloween originates from the Celt's celebrations
and is based on their “Samhain”.
"Trick or Treat!".
Young children and teenagers dress in Halloween costumes and visit their
friends' and neighbours' houses. They say "Trick or Treat!". The
neighbours give candies or fruit to the kids (a"treat"). Otherwise,
the children play a "trick".

This tradition goes back to the Middle Ages when Poor Christians went
begging, asking people for food, and in exchange, they prayed for the souls of
the dead members of the family.
“The withes night and black cats”
The leyend says witches gathered together twice a year. The 30th
of April and the 31st of october.

Black cats are not really cats but the costumes
witches use to go peacefully from one place to another.
“Pumpkins”
The empty pumpkin with a lighten candle inside is the most famous symbol
in halloween.
