Bilingual Program                   Introduction                           Wacth in spanish

This past trimester, during the months of November and December, our students from infantile to sixth grade have participated in various activities to enrich their experience as bilingual students.

Halloween Party

On Halloween, we had a day of various activities for the students.  The students got to participate in and learn about American traditions.  We talked about the ways Halloween is celebrated.  All students sang English language Halloween songs and participated in a trick or treat game.  These wonderful enrichment activities have been coordinated by the English teachers, TIC director, bilingual coordinator and our native speaker from the USA, Emily Campbell.

Special Cultural Presentations

Using the program Power Point and a Canon visual projector there have been presentations about:

  • American culture: discussing what its like to travel to the USA, and learning about American football traditions, and the football team the New England Patriots.
  • Christmas time with a family in the USA: exploring themes of American traditions and their approach to Christmas time.

All of these presentations have been done in English.  When the students do not understand, they are asked to translate the phrases word by word.

The presentations are available online.

Christmas time

For Christmas, students in third and forth grade participated in the play “Father Christmas.”  This was a lot of fun for the students, as they got to perform for their fellow classmates.  The plays were put together by the English teachers, tutors and our native speaker Emily Campbell.
