THE PALIO OF MOGLIANO VENETO: The Palio of the Quarters (A.Frank school) In our town there are a lot of events: Torchlight procession, Antique-trade market, Christmas market, Carnival, Fairs. Among these, the most interesting is an historical event:  THE PALIO OF THE QUARTERS                   The last Sunday of September, in Mogliano, there is the PALIO OF THE QUARTERS. The word PALLIUM, in the Middle Ages, had two meanings: it was the flag that a town offered as a gift to a powerful gentleman; or it was a brocade (Gonfalon) as a price in horse-races. In the long run, the second meaning prevailed.
		IN THE MIDDLE AGES   This was the announcement of the beginning of the competition. It is in the original language of the age and it was signed by "Meriga", a sort of Major.
