The opening screening of Thy Womb will take place next June 9 at Isabel la Católica Theatre.
An international jury formed by five members will choose the Best Feature Film and the Best Director Awards among the 8 movies in the Official section.
The jurors are:
Moroccan producer Fouad Challa, whose company Dreamaker Productions produced Pegasus, participant in the 2011 Edition.
Ángel Sala, graduated in Law, critic, writer and scriptwriter. He is the Cine Fantástico de Cataluña Sitges Film Festival director since 2001.
Sabrina Baracetti is Udine Far East Film Festival (Italy) Director.
Tanya Valette is adviser to the Dominican Dirección General de Cine (DGCINE), analyst for Ibermedia Program, commissioner and coordinator of workshops, various institutions and festivals around the world, as well as audiovisual projects consultant and cultural manager since the late 90s up to nowadays.
Farshad Zahedi, PhD in Cinema History by Madrid Complutense University, is currently lecturer in Film Studies and Media History at Madrid Carlos III University’s Journalism and Audiovisual Communication Department as well as a member of the TECMERIN research group. As a writer, he has published several research works about Iranian Cinema and peripheral countries media culture.
Brillante Mendoza’s Thy Womb screening will open the 7th edition of the Festival. The contrasted Filipino Director is well known by the Festival public after having participated in the 2nd edition with his feature film Tirador, and his work Serbis was screened in the Retrospectiva de Cine Filipino Section two years ago.
Thy Womb, nominated by 70th Venice International Film Festival for the Golden Lion award, has been selected by several international film festivals as well.
This year’s edition award for the Best Feature Film will be called Alhambra de Oro. Edición Milenio. On the other hand, Special Jury award and Audience awards will be, as usual, given to the best feature film.
