During the 7th and 8th November, the ISO TC 43 SC1 WG33 standardization committee met in Brussels to work on the different standard projects for the measurement of noise generated by traffic on the roads, as well as other auxiliary measures. The experiences collected in the pilot sections of the LIFE SOUNDLESS project developed on roads A-8058 and A-376, have been exposed by CIDAUT (Spanish committee member). These measurements carried out in a warm country can help to see how temperature can affect to the results obtained, in order to better configure the standards.

From 27 to 30 November Medellin (Colombia) will host the 19th Ibero-Latin American Asphalt Congress (CILA). International experts, academics and professionals will come together in this encounter to debate on technical and scientific issues relating to asphalt and road surfacing as well as to learn about the latest technological advances in the industry.
The Ibero-Latin American Asphalt Congress, better known for its acronym CILA, constitutes the largest forum on road infrastructures of the whole of Latin America.
The report on “NOISE-REDUCING, ECO-EFFICIENT, HIGH-DURABILITY BITUMEN MIXES. LIFE-SOUNDLESS PROJECT” has been chosen by CILA’s Technical Committee for its presentation during the Congress.

The LIFESOUNDLESS Project will take part in the upcoming meeting of the LIFE platform on plastic recycling (LIFE PLATFORM MEETING ON PLASTIC RECYCLING), which is due to be staged in Athens (Greece) on 21 and 22 September 2017.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and promote the contribution of the LIFE and Horizon 2020 projects to European Union policies such as developing the Strategy on Plastics in a Circular Economy. It will also investigate how projects can work jointly with industry to meet established goals. Discussions with industry professionals, public institutions and other stakeholders will encourage the exchange of information with the European Commission, which plays a key role in the implementation of the legislative process.
For the LIFESOUNDLESS Project, it presents an opportunity to raise awareness on a European scale of the project and the experience acquired in implementing it as well as learning about other LIFE and Horizon 2020 projects with which to exchange information and know-how and establishing contacts for future ideas and collaborations.

On 6 July the LIFESOUNDLESS Project is participating in the workshop titled “Buone pratiche per impiego di materiali da riciclo. Implicazioni e Policy. Esempio di applicazione nel settore strade e civile” (Good practices in the use of recycled materials. Implications and Policies. Examples of application on roads). This workshop is organized by the project titled REFIBRE LIFE (LIFE14 ENV/IT/000160 “Recycling of textile fibres from end-of-life tyres for production of new asphalts and plastic compounds”) in collaboration with the NEREIDE LIFE (LIFE15 ENV/IT/000268 “Noise Efficiently REduced by recycleD pavEments”) project and is held at the Marche Polytechnic University, Ancona (Italy).
The session will see the presentation of the goals and an advance of the results obtained in the LIFESOUNDLESS Project after the implementation of the pilot sections and the first campaign for monitoring the acoustic behaviour of LIFESOUNDLESS mixes.

The 13th PTEC Sessions on INNOVATION IN THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT. THE ROLE OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IN DECARBONISING THE CITIES will be held on 31 May in Valladolid. The LIFE SOUNDLESS Project will be present at the sessions with a descriptive poster.

A Workshop on Innovation in Road Surface Conservation is staged in Madrid on Tuesday 23 May.
Among other innovative actions, the progress made to date in the LIFE SOUNDLESS Project will be presented.
Admission to the Workshop is free of charge but requires registration due to limited capacity.

The 4th Sessions on Sustainable Urban Conservation will be staged in the city of Málaga on 17 May. The Deputy Director of the Directorate General for Infrastructures will take part in the debating table on “SUITABLE URBAN PAVING. INNOVATIVE PAVING”, at which the LIFE SOUNDLESS Project will be presented together with the rest of sustainable initiatives promoted by this Directorate General.
