The object of the "Industrial Production Index of Andalusia (IPIAN)" is to indicate the monthly evolution experienced by the part of the Gross Value Added (GVA) originating in the industrial sector with regard to a previous period denominated base period The European Statistics Code of Practice, adopted by The Statistical Programme Committee on 24 February 2005, considers among its principles that the resources available to statistical authorities must be sufficient, but also, there should not be an excessive burden on respondents. In this way, and in order to avoid duplicity of information and to reduce the burden on Andalusian companies, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA) have unified the elaboration of the Index of Industrial Production that up to now has been carried out by both institutes for Andalusia. The result is that, from the January 2009 index, a single indicator is published for Andalusia elaborated between both statistical institutes with an agreed sample of establishments, products and weightings that guarantee optimum results of the breakdowns that the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia already offered. From January 2009 the Indicator base is 2005 and CNAE 2009. The connection of the complete regional temporary series since January 1984, in base 2005 and CNAE-09 has been carried out. |
