RESEARCH CAREER TRANSTITION AND RE-INTEGRATION PROGRAMME OF THE National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States of America and the Regional Ministery of Health of the Junta de Andalucia

This partner action is part of the Andalusian Program for Health Research Human Resources (Strategic Plan for Health Research,Development and Innovation 2006-2010). Its main objective is to foster health research in Andalusian priority and strategic areas through training researchers in centres of excellence, like NIH, and integrating highly professional research scientist in the field of health into the Andalusian biomedical research fabric.

Postdoctoral researchers may participate in the Program in two different ways:

A) TRAINING AND REINTEGRATION

This modality consists of two different phases:

• ¬Phase I (training): 2-3 years training stay in the NIH open to researchers with a doctoral degree or equivalent in health sciences and less than 5 years of relevant postdoctoral research experience at the start of the fellowship period.
• ¬ Phase II (reintegration): to develop a research project (minimum 3 years) in a health or research centre of the Andalusian Regional Health Ministry. This Phase is open to researchers who have successfully passed Phase I (training) evaluation.

B) REINTEGRATION FROM NIH

This modality enable scientists to develop a Research Project (minimum 3 year long) in a  health or research centre of the Andalusian Regional Health Ministry. It is aimed towards researchers already in the NIH, whose profiles fall within Andalusian Regional Ministry priorities
