Belén Arellano Cañizares

Córdoba, 1998

Arellano focuses on creating tools or rituals that can start conversations. She operates in the realm of objects, specifically pieces for wearing or living with. She is interested in themes such as intimacy and how people act when no one is watching. Arellano is currently pursuing an MFA in Public Art and New Artistic Strategies at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Germany. She graduated from the Universidad de Granada with a BFA in 2021. She participated in projects such as Breathing sessions and Noise is (not) data with the CO2 curatorial collective and is currently a member of the artists’ collective acta, who organised the exhibition Elogio al Fracaso at the Admiral’s Palace in Granada (2021).

Belén Arellano has taken part in group shows like LOst iN TRANSLATION at the Bauhaus-Museum Weimar (2022), Du kannst das tragen at the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz (2022), Unter den Nägeln at the Landtag of Thuringia in Erfurt (2022), MálagaCrea Artes Visuales – OFF at LA CAJA BLANCA in Málaga (2021) and HENTAI WORLD at Galerie Eigenheim in Weimar (2020). Her only solo exhibition to date has been Me You Us Imaginary, part of summaery2019 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (2019).
