David Escalona

Málaga, 1981

He studied medicine and was awarded a degree in the Fine Arts from the University of Málaga. He completed his Master’s in “Art Research and Production” at the University of Granada and is currently writing his PhD the- sis on “The body, accident and creation” with the same university.

He has created a number of both individual and collective exhibits for different prestigious galleries and art cen- tres of national renown such as the Modern Art Centre (Málaga), the Conde Duque Cultural Centre (Madrid), the Fúcares Gallery (Seville) and the Isabel Hurley Gallery (Málaga). He has been awarded various artistic grants such as that of the Antonio Gala, Daniel Vázquez Díaz Foundation and the Research for University Professor- ship Training grant. He has received such prizes as the Fourth Biennial ONCE Prize and he has collaborated in various artistic projects, most notably the “Abcd Cultural” project and the project on Hepatitis C carried out by the School of Art and Illnesses at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in the Marina Salud Hospital in Denia.
