Demetrio Salces

Córdoba, 1987

Has a BFA from the University of Seville and has rounded out his education with different workshops and courses on curating and developing artistic projects. He currently lives in the United Kingdom. He has received grants and awards from various institutions, including Fundación Viana - Bilbao Arte, the AlNorte Grant, D-Mencia and the Fernando Quiñones Competition. Additionally, his work has appeared in numerous group exhibitions such as La Gran Máquina II (Museo Cal Trepat, Lleida), M2/M3 (Móstoles Civic Centre, Móstoles) and Puertas Abiertas (Bilbao Arte, Bilbao), and his solo shows include La Fábrica (Palace of La Merced, Córdoba), TaTaTaTam (Sala Guirigai, Los Santos de Maimona, Badajoz) and Rompida (Museo Barjola).

Since 2012, he has co-directed and curated "Z: Contemporary Art Symposium of Montalbán, Córdoba", a project that aspires to bring art and the public closer together by exploring the possibilities of contemporary art in the rural world. As a visual artist, Demetrio’s works incorporate a wide range of media, from painting and sculpture installation to video and sound art. He addresses socio-political themes such as communication/non-communication, the human condition and personal relationships, always seeking to convey multiple points of view with a heavy dose of criticism and irony.
