This project promotes dialogue, under the same thematic framework, of different forms of artistic expression, such as painting, video and installations, and establishes a suitable atmosphere for reflection through the enjoyment of culture.
Javier Artero presents to us his video creation ‘Procession’, in which he renames this type of work as video-postcard, in which his framings are of great photographic quality, close to the pictorial and in which the scene represented is timeless.
Francisco Conde creates, as a trompe-l'œil, the pictorial works ‘Bivouac I’, ‘Bivouac IV’ and ‘Sin título’ (Untitled), in which the aim is to capture the moment of pictorial creation that reminds the painter of Baudelairian modern life.
Francisco Javier Valverde presents us with five pictorial works: ‘Bandera’ (Flag), ‘Monumento a la conquista’ (Monument to the conquest), ‘Ruina’ (Ruin), ‘Wilhem Sasnal’ and ‘La sombra del vampiro’ (The Vampire’s shadow) of various sizes, whose narrative meaning involves complex readings.
Victoria Maldonado in her installation ‘Signum. Ipsa’ builds a foundation of fiction that becomes the leitmotiv of her perfidious system of representation in which art and its artistic processes are in a continual renovation movement. She adopts an ironic view, using the language of science of entomology, generating a dead work.
José Luis Valverde’s pictorial works ‘1:09:03’, ‘Máscara’ (Mask), ‘Sin título’ (Untitled), ‘Reliquia’ (Relic), ‘Resto’ (Remainder) and ‘Máscara II’ (Mask II) take the form of photographic and cinematographic iconography in which he proposes to transgress between what is suggested and what is represented to understand the state of strangeness and decontextualise it.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with the text ‘Causa o pretexto’ (Cause or pretext) by Juan María Montijano.

Melilla, 1989
BFA from the University of Málaga (2012). Noteworthy projects include NEVER ODD OR EVEN (2016), El Periplo (2015) and La disección lúcida (2013). He has exhibited at the CAAC (Seville), the Russian Museum Collection (Málaga), the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), the Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria), Museo Es Balaurd (Palma de Mallorca), Fundación Valentín de Madariaga (Seville), Galería Isabel Hurley (Málaga), ELBUTRÓN (Seville) and LOOP Barcelona, among other venues.
Artero has won several distinctions, including the DKV / ES BALUARD video art production grant, Art@Tell Third Edition, ART 35 Fundación Banco Sabadell, and the ARP residency grant from the University of Málaga. His work can be found in the collections of DKV Seguros, Museo Es Baluard, Fundación Banco Sabadell and the University of Málaga, among others.

Málaga, 1987
Conde graduated from the University of Málaga with a BFA. In Málaga, his end-of-studies project was selected for 8 Grados Sur (Rectorate, University of Málaga, 2015) and participated in the group exhibition Causa o Pretexto (Espacio Iniciarte, Málaga, 2014). In 2016 he did a residency at La Maison de l’Email in Morez, France. His predominantly pictorial oeuvre assumes that the ontology of the medium is only defined through praxis, which is therefore always an unavoidable symbolic cultural representation. In his investigations, he attempts to appropriate the linguistic characteristics of different narrative systems in order to discuss the themes around which his work revolves: the auratic physicality of the cultural/artistic artefact, and the ways in which the contemporary individual dwells in contexts. He currently lives in Nyon, Switzerland.
Málaga, 1987
With a BFA (2014) and an MA in Interdisciplinary Artistic Production from the University of Málaga. He has had solo shows at the Griffin Gallery (London), the Málaga Fine Arts Faculty, and JMGaleria - ColumnaJM (Málaga), among other venues. His work has appeared in group exhibitions at various galleries and art centres, including Espacio El Butrón (Seville), CAC (Málaga), Fundación Bancaja (Zaragoza), Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (Valencia), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de La Carolina (Jaén) and Espacio Iniciarte El Palmeral de las Sorpresas (Málaga), as well as at art fairs like Getxoarte (Getxo, Vizcaya) and ARCO (Madrid).
Valverde’s distinctions include First Prize in the 2018 MálagaCrea Visual Arts Competition, the residency grant from Colart, The Fine Art Collective (TFAC, London), Third Prize for Best Room at the Art&Breakfast Fair (Málaga), A Secas. Artistas Andaluces de ahora, CAAC (Seville), and the “Creadores” residency at La Térmica (Málaga) and FACBA 2020 (University of Granada). His works can be found in the collections of Fundación Canaria para el Desarrollo de la Pintura, CAC Málaga, Fundación Benetton and Málaga City Council.
Málaga, 1991
Holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the University of Malaga (2013), where he also completed a Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Artistic Production (2015). He is currently working on his doctorate, also at UMA. He received the Creadores La Térmica scholarship (Malaga, 2015), an Iniciarte scholarship (Junta de Andalucía, 2013-14) and the UMA Scholarship for the Real Academia de España en Roma (2013).
His first individual exhibition, Maryon Park, took place in 2015 at the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Malaga. His second individual exhibition was in 2017 Galería JM of Malaga, and titled Oleoramas del Parque del Oeste. He was selected to take part in various competitions and joint exhibitions, the MálagaCrea Visual Arts Contest CAC Málaga, (2016 and 2014, awarded Honorary Mention both years, 2015 and 2013), III Salón de las Vanidades, Palacio Ducal de El Carpio, Córdoba (2015) awarded Honorary Mention, Causa o pretexto (El Palmeral Iniciarte Exhibition Room, Malaga (2014), Mamá, Exhibition Room Cruzcampo Foundation, Malaga (2014), the VII and VI University of Malaga Painting Prize UMA Rectorate Exhibition Room, Malaga, (2013, awarded 2nd Prize that year and in 2012) and the III International Exhibition of University Art IKAS ART, Bilbao,(2011), among others.
Málaga, 1989
Earned her BFA at the University of Málaga (2015), where she is currently enrolled in a master's course on Interdisciplinary Artistic Production. She completed the advanced levels of the Advertising Graphics and Illustration programme at the San Telmo School of Arts and Crafts in Málaga (2007–2011). Maldonado received the UMA-Rome internship and production grant at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome (2014) and is currently enjoying a residency at Fundación Bilbao Arte thanks to a grant from Fundación Viana in Córdoba (2016).
Her project Labra Pérfida was included in the "Guest Bedroom" section at Casa Sostoa (Málaga, 2015), and she has been chosen to participate in a number of group exhibitions and competitions, including the MálagaCrea Visual Arts Competition (CAC Málaga, 2015), 8 Grados Sur (Salas de Rectorado, Málaga, 2015), Días para contar (Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, Vélez-Málaga, 2015), Causa o Pretexto (Iniciarte Programme, Málaga, 2014) and Songs from Spaces (Salas del Rectorado, Málaga, 2014). She has just concluded her first solo show, Vestigio e impotencia, at the Fine Art Faculty of Málaga (2016). Victoria had the oportunity to take part in the Iniciarte Program in the collective exhibition “Cause or pretext” with her work ‘Signum.
