DATA OF INTEREST
DESCRIPTION

This linear path allows us to access the Greera lagoon, one of the most charming places in these environments and whose name is thought to be due to a movement or landslide that once occurred (greera), and that resulted in the formation of the lagoon vessel.

Starting next to the stream called Garganta de Pulga, we ascend a forest track that leads us into a forest of Valencian oaks, cork oaks and accompanying scrub, becoming increasingly shadyier and more mysterious. We will have to walk with due care since along this forest track we may occasionally find a motor vehicle from those authorised to use the forest or linked to the surveillance and control of the protected area.

After travelling approximately 1.1 km., The path turns off to the right along a road that will lead us to Laguna de la Greera. Before reaching it, we pass by some large rocky blocks of sandstones of great beauty, which denote the geological nature of the lands we walk on (Aljibe sandstones), and later we cross the stream that feeds this lagoon in rainy seasons. In this channel you can find signs of vegetation which is typical of subtropical gallery forests, which exemplify those known as Laurisilva within the Los Alcornocales Natural Park, especially in the "canutos" where there are species such as laurel, hazelnut, strawberry trees, heather, etc.

Among the fauna that can be seen in the surrounding places we can find some soaring birds and others linked to the forest environment, such as booted eagles, short-toed eagles, griffon vultures, goshawks and buzzards, and among the mammals that inhabit its leafy forests. Forests include the elusive roe deer, deer, feral pigs, fox, genet or even marten, as well as a certain number of species of amphibians and reptiles that populate not only the waters of the lagoon but its surroundings.

Please take care of the delicate lake environment and do not carry out activities that threaten the conservation of the humid habitat.
