(Spanish version)

In September 2011, Sierra Norte de Sevilla was recognized as a member of the Global Geoparks Network. Four years later, in September 2015, Sierra Norte de Sevilla overcame the process of revalidation of its recognition as a geopark after proving that works according to established criteria and parameters, in areas such as sustainable development and conservation and promotion of geological and cultural values.

On November 17, 2015, the Member States in the UNESCO General Conference ratified the statutes of the new International Geosciences and Geoparks Program, legally approving the new UNESCO Global Geopark label.

Therefore, the Natural Park Sierra Norte de Sevilla has since been the designation of UNESCO Global Geopark.

This protected area has other protection figures, such as Natural Park Sierra Norte de Sevilla (declared in 1989), Special Conservation Zone (SAC), Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA). Within its territory we can find the Natural Monuments Cerro del Hierro and Huesna Waterfalls and it is part of the Biosphere Reserve Dehesas de Sierra Morena.

The Natural Park has adhered to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) since 2007.

Come to know the natural richness that the Geopark of the Sierra Norte offers to all its visitors: a geologic history with an antiquity of 1.000 million years, and a great floristic and faunal diversity.

Culture, traditional economy and centuries of history are still visible in the geopark municipalities.
