Doctor en Filosof\u00eda y Letras (Historia) por la Universidad de Granada<\/strong> y profesor<\/strong> de la misma instituci\u00f3n desde 1977 hasta 2019<\/strong> en que se jubil\u00f3 como Catedr\u00e1tico de Historia Contempor\u00e1nea, Manuel Titos Mart\u00ednez es el gran investigador e historiador de Sierra Nevada<\/strong>, un territorio que conoci\u00f3 primero como monta\u00f1ero y m\u00e1s tarde como estudioso. Las l\u00edneas de su tarea de investigaci\u00f3n han recorrido \u00e1mbitos como la Historia econ\u00f3mica, la Historia empresarial, la Historia financiera y la Historia natural, monta\u00f1era y cultural de Sierra Nevada<\/strong>.<\/p>

Es autor o coordinador de 60 libros y de unos 200 art\u00edculos en revistas especializadas<\/strong>, y ha participado en 15 proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n<\/strong> y realizado varias estancias en centros extranjeros. Sus comunicaciones y ponencias en congresos, seminarios, coloquios, simposios y reuniones cient\u00edficas superan el medio centenar. Tambi\u00e9n ha dirigido diez tesis doctorales y numerosos trabajos de fin de carrera y doctorado, y ha comisariado varias exposiciones y coordinado algunas colecciones bibliogr\u00e1ficas.<\/p>

Entre sus distinciones se encuentra el Premio Lid de Historia Empresarial<\/strong>, la Medalla de Honor de la Academia de Bellas Artes de Granada<\/strong>, el nombramiento como Miembro de Honor del Centro de Estudios Hist\u00f3ricos de Granada y su Reino<\/strong>, la Medalla conmemorativa del Centenario de los Parques Nacionales en Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>, la Medalla de Oro de la Provincia de Granada<\/strong>, la Medalla de oro al m\u00e9rito de la ciudad de Granada<\/strong> y el premio ‘Cumbres Salvajes’<\/strong>\u00a0otorgado en 2023 por la Federaci\u00f3n Andaluza de Monta\u00f1ismo.<\/p>

En 2020 recibi\u00f3 el premio del Consejo Social de la Universidad de Granada<\/strong> a la mejor actividad formativa impartida en modalidad on-line por la direcci\u00f3n del MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) Sierra Nevada, en el que, en las seis ediciones realizadas hasta ahora, han participado m\u00e1s de 25.000 estudiantes de todo el mundo<\/strong>. Es miembro de la Academia Andaluza de la Historia y presidente del Consejo de Participaci\u00f3n del Espacio Natural Sierra Nevada<\/strong> (Parque Natural y Parque Nacional).<\/p>

Entre sus libros<\/strong> m\u00e1s destacados relacionados con Sierra Nevada se encuentran ‘Sierra Nevada, una gran historia’, ‘La aventura de Sierra Nevada’, ‘Mulhac\u00e9n’, ‘Cartograf\u00eda de Sierra Nevada’, ‘Leyendas de Sierra Nevada’, ‘Los Neveros de Sierra Nevada’<\/strong> y ‘Sierra Nevada, testimonios de un milenio’<\/strong>.
