Who we are

somosThe Andalusian Network for the design and translation of Advanced Therapies (And&tAT) was created under the terms of the Resolution of 9th April 2019 of the General Secretariat of Research, Development and Innovation of the Andalusian Ministry of Health and Families with a view to fostering the design and translation of advanced therapies in the Andalusian Region.

In 2008, the Andalusian Initiative for Advanced Therapies (AIAT) was launched, as a Strategy of the Andalusian Government, with the mission of promoting the development of new therapies in order to improve the population’s health and to incorporate innovative advanced therapies in the healthcare and progress of our region, by seeking alliances between the academic world, research institutions, health centres, patients’ associations, SMEs and the pharmaceutical industry.

In 2010, the 2010/2015 Strategy and Action Plan of the AIAT was publicly presented. This strategy and Action Plan defined a Coordination Unit for the AITA whose members have identified, organised and supported the multidisciplinary research in the field of advanced therapies in Andalusia by facilitating the training of technologies, basic and clinic researchers and by boosting the translational research in this field and the transfer of the potential benefits of these advanced therapies to the population.

In the resolution of 9th of April of 2019, it is noted that “during the validity of this Strategy and Action Plan the need of expanding the scope and content of the Andalusian Initiative for Advanced Therapies is clearly evident” and hence “the establishment of a Network is the best alternative to make further progress in the design and translation of these therapies”. This Network, called Andalusian Network for the design and translation of Advanced Therapies (And&tAT), has been designed as an organizational structure for the association of a diversity of institutions, management foundations, centres, research platforms and groups with a multidisciplinary character whose main objectives are the implementation of cooperative research projects and the design and translation of advanced therapies.
