EIDYLLION: SHORT POEM

EIDYLLION: SHORT POEM
Ana Pavón Porras
From 16 Mar to 30 Apr 2023

CADIZ MUSEUM

The project Eidyllion: Short Poem speaks of a love or friendship cut short by death, of something as brief and intense as an “idyllic” whirlwind romance. Inspired by the fourth-century-BC poet Erinna of Telos and her work The Distaff, a heartfelt lament for the death of her friend Baucis, the exhibition consists of twelve central pieces—the same number of feet in the two hexameters that define the poem’s cadence—accompanied by other minor creations.

This show builds on Ana Pavón’s previous works, rooted in the theory and notion of the occult or hidden as a method of seduction in a largely Graeco-Roman or Graeco-Latin setting and context, and invites us to explore her unique, distinctive taste in colours and her visually striking tendency to revel in tiny ornamental details.

The exhibition catalogue includes texts by Borja Moreno Martínez, "A Place for Fiction".

Opening: March 16, 18h

Guided tour: March 16 at 6:00 p.m., by the artist.

Children's workshop: April 15 from 11 a.m to 1 p.m, by Los Vendaval.

Registration form the workshops will open the week before the activity.

This exhibition is carried out in collaboration with the Museum of Cádiz.
