Intervención Arqueológica Preventiva mediante sondeo y control de movimiento de tierras en calle San Matías nº 3 (Granada)

Abstract

La Intervención Arqueológica Preventiva realizada en el inmueble situado en la Calle San Matías nº 3, Granada, bajo el encargo de SAN MATIAS APARTMENTS S.L. estaba vinculada a la construcción de un edificio de nueva planta que incluirá apartamentos turísticos, un local comercial y un almacén. La excavación arqueológica se realizó debido a la necesidad de rebajar y cimentar el solar para la construcción de un semisótano. El sondeo principal se llevó a cabo en la zona central del solar, con dimensiones de 12 x 3,5 metros y una profundidad máxima de 2 metros. Este sondeo proporcionó información sobre la antigua cimentación del edificio anterior y la relación del solar con la trama urbana histórica. Se hizo una cata aneja a uno de los muros principales para llegar al nivel estratigráfico geológico, esta se encontraba a una cota a partir de -180 cm. A pesar de la intervención, no se encontraron restos arqueológicos significativos, ya que la cimentación del edificio anterior había destruido la mayor parte de los estratos anteriores. El solar se encuentra en un área geográficamente privilegiada de Granada, en la transición entre la antigua medina islámica y el arrabal del Realejo. La parcela tiene una superficie aproximada de 179,97 m², con una forma trapezoidal y una topografía descendente. The Preventive Archaeological Intervention conducted at the property located at Calle San Matías No. 3, Granada, commissioned by SAN MATIAS APARTMENTS S.L., was associated with the construction of a new building that will include tourist apartments, a commercial space, and a storage area. The archaeological excavation was undertaken due to the need to lower and lay the foundations of the site for the construction of a semi-basement. The main trench was carried out in the central area of the site, measuring 12 x 3.5 meters with a maximum depth of 2 meters. This trench provided information about the old foundation of the previous building and the site's relationship with the historical urban layout. A test pit was also made adjacent to one of the main walls to reach the geological stratigraphic level, found at a depth starting at -180 cm. Despite the intervention, no significant archaeological remains were found, as the foundation of the previous building had destroyed most of the earlier strata. The site is located in a geographically privileged area of Granada, at the transition between the old Islamic medina and the Realejo suburb. The plot has an approximate area of 179.97 m², with a trapezoidal shape and descending topography.
