Intervención arqueológica de emergencia en plaza de Santa María nº7 de Niebla, Huelva

Abstract

This archaeological excavation was carried out in the formerly presumed location of roman Ilipla forum, an asumption based only in now a days urban plant. The actual evidence is that Plaza de Santa María is located outside the roman pomerium, giving a clue to ascertain that the roman and pre-roman city walls had a perimetral lenth much smaller than it was generally supposed. Archaeological stratigraphy only evidenced occupational levels as from the islamic period.
