DESCRIPTION


The Torre del Tajo Watchtower is located in the Dunas de Barbate mountain within the Natural Park of La Breña and Marismas del Barbate, it is a 16th century Watchtower located at the end of the signposted Torre del Tajo trail, and catalogued as BIC .

From the viewpoint, you can see in the background the spectacular landscape that the passage of time has drawn on the Cadiz coast. If you look south, you can see Barbate, Atunara and the cove of Barbate, which ends at Cape Gracia. Crowning it and behind it, the Sierra del Retín, Zahora de los Atunes, Sierra Plata and San Bartolomé and Punta Camarinal. On the sunniest days you can contemplate Tarifa and even the beginning of the coast of Africa.

It has visiting hours since it is not permanently open, so prior to the visit you must contact the information point of the La Breña y Marismas del Barbate Natural Park (Tel. 956 45 97 80).

HOW TO GET

Until Vejer de la Frontera by the N-340 (Cádiz-Algeciras). Take the turn-off to Vejer de la Frontera / Barbate, in La Barca de Vejer, (A-314). Take the A-2233 road, towards Los Caños. About 2.5 km from the port of Barbate, at kilometre 19.5, there is a parking area on our left, the starting point of the Torre del Tajo trail. The VIEWPOINT is on the path of the trail.
