VENTA NUEVA - Ventana del Visitante
This visitor centre is located in the Sierra de Cardeña y Montoro in Córdoba, visitors can discover this space by stopping off to go inside the centre. The display shows the typical Mediterranean landscape of this fertile mountain range, with a predominance of open oak woodland (dehesa), Mediterranean scrub and pine forests. To see more of this, visitors can walk theCardeña-Aldea del Cerezo signposted hiking trail that enters the dehesa and leads the walker between unique granite blocks known as bolos.
Venta Nueva also shows how emblematic and threatened animals live in the shelter of this vegetation: mammals such as wolves and otters, and birds of prey such as black vultures and imperial eagles. The lynx, which roams through this Protected Area, is given special attention as it is the most threatened feline on the planet and because of the need to join forces to fight for its survival.
Another point of interest exhibited is the traditional use of the forest, highlighting how in the dehesas, livestock feed on acorns and grass, allowing the conservation and sustainable development of this natural environment.
