The La Bota - El Portil bike path's main objective is to serve facilities and services on offer in the natural areas located on the western coast and, more specifically, for tourist centres that are found between the mouth of the Río Piedras ( Piedras and Flecha de El Rompido Marshes Protected Area ) and the Ría de Punta Umbría ( Odiel Marshes Natural Area ).
It passes over the second lot of dunes whose topography is catered for by a route on which there are ups and downs and that allows you to enjoy vast panoramic views of the pine forest that extends inland, La Bota beach and, above all, the sandy stretch of la Flecha de El Rompido.
The route is paved in concrete and is well signposted along the entire route. There are plenty of gateways providing rest points and markers.
Access from Huelva via the Punta Umbría motorway (A-497), where you first take exit 9 (El Portil-El Rompido and Cartaya) and then the turn-off to La Bota, until you reach the roundabout for the La Bota campsite where the cycle route starts. From Punta Umbría, take the HV-4113 road and then the HV-4112 to the vicinity of the Portil Lagoon, from where the route begins, running in the opposite direction.
