From this panoramic viewpoint at the highest of the Sierra de Cabrera (at 1,085 metres altitude) you can make out multiple elements. Firstly, the limestone rock quarries that visually stand out against the interesting Lapiaz de Los Lanchares. A lapiaz is a geological formation formed by the dissolution of limestone, the predominant rocks in these mountains, by the rain. The chemical reaction decalcifies the rock and produces large surfaces that are difficult to cross, with furrows up to a meter wide, separated by sharp ridges.
On the horizon, you can make out the Pico Sierra where the Hermitage of the Virgen de la Sierra, patron saint of Cabra, is located. Behind the Tajillo del Águila, a row of trees marks the Arroyo de Valdecañas stream, which takes advantage of the fault in the land which is easy to see from here.
In the background, where the soil becomes scarce, the olive grove disappears, replaced by rocky outcrops, the natural vegetation of the Mediterranean forest. Here the wild fauna takes refuge and feeds.
The Cabrera viewpoint is located on the Santa Rita trail, which begins at the Santa Rita visitor centre, located at Km 11.2 of the A-339 road from Cabra to Priego de Córdoba.
