This viewpoint offers a beautiful view of the Boyar Corridor, bordered by the Pinar and Endrinal mountains. With more than 2,200 l / m2 per year, it is the rainiest place in the peninsula, since the cloud masses of the Gulf of Cádiz, when colliding with the Sierra del Pinar, cause precipitation in this area.
The humidity, together with the altitude and the low insolation, provide one of the last refuges for the Spanish fir. In addition to this enclave, this species of fir only exists in Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Bermeja and, on the other shore, in Morocco.
Geologically, the Salto del Cabrero is impressive, a fault that divides a limestone block. The upper block forms the highest summit, at a height of about 970 metres, and a deep gash separates it from the lower one. At its feet rises the Hondón stream, one of the most spectacular springs.
You can also see the Castle of Aznalmara, built by ancient Spanish-Muslim settlers as a viewpoint for the same valley, which is a natural access to the Sierra de Albarracín, at whose feet is El Bosque.
To alleviate the historical effect of logging or carbonation, breakage and fires, the slopes were reforested with Aleppo pines because, in addition to stopping erosion, the natural Mediterranean vegetation resurfaces under their protection.
On the A-372 road, at approximately kilometre 43.5, next to the start of the Salto del Cabrero, Los Charcones and Pozo de las Presillas trails.
