The El Saltillo recreational area constitutes the main nucleus of the El Saltillo and Lomero Llano Periurban Park. This is the largest recreational adaptation in the entire province, covering an area of more than 20 hectares located in the area known as "Pinar del Estado" near the spread-out urban nucleus of Los Pinos de Valverde.
Concerning the landscape, the most important thing is that it is one of the best examples of stone pine forest in the entire province. The majesty of most of the specimens that make up the mass, together with the diversity of the understory that accompanies them (cork oaks, arborescent mastic trees and numerous mesomediterranean species) make this space a unique place to observe and enjoy nature.
In addition to the typical equipment found at these types of facilities (barbecues, picnic tables and benches, fountains, children's playground, rubbish bins, etc.), El Saltillo has a kiosk-bar that usually provides service during the months with the greatest influx of people (in the months of spring and late autumn). It is usually used for various sports and recreational activities organised by the Valverde del Camino City Council, as well as being the traditional venue for popular celebrations (carnival, Saint Pancras Festivities, etc).
From the N 435 road at Km. 196.4, access is through the entrance lane to the Los Pinos de Valverde urbanisation that starts opposite the Venta de Los Cristos and which leads directly to the facilities.
