The Las Almohallas Restricted Camping Area is found in a placid mixed forest environment made up of pine groves with holm oaks and native scrub.
Las Almohallas is only open to organised groups (youth camps) so it is managed through the Andalusian Youth Institute, although it occasionally opens in autumn or spring. This ammenities include barbecues, fountains and toilets.
Without a doubt, it is worth checking out the views of the Calares de Leria, at the base of which is the emblematic Cueva de Ambrosio, which is outside the boundaries of the protected area.
Another appeal of the enclave is the Endangered Species Recovery Centre, part of the Network of Andalusian facilities of this type that are home to emblematic species among which it is worth highlighting the birds of prey and reptiles such as the Moorish Tortoise which is in danger of extinction.
Take the local road that connects the urban centre of María with the Valdelinfierno reservoir, and at a distance of thirteen kilometres from the town we find the organised free camping area Las Almohallas. It is approximately the same distance if we approach from the town of Vélez-Blanco, along the the cemetery path.
