Abstract

Ongoing research during last year on Munigua¿s economy revealed once more the city¿s eminent mining caracter. A change was observed in the proceedings of the two main metals, copper and iron. Meanwhile copper predominated from the beginning until the first half of the 1st century AD and being funded besides the mines in Munigua¿s hinterland, from this time onward iron began to get more importance, being funded in the city itself. Possibly a workshop was identified. The mine at Puerto Cid, north of Munigua, was studied and many other places in concern with mining were identified in the neighbourhood. Regarding research on the city-wall, the north-gate¿s ubication was determined more precisely.
