Intervención arqueológica en el claustro de San Juan de Dios. Crujía sur-este del claustro primero (Granada)

Abstract

La implantación del hospital (S.XVI) se hace sobre un edificio precedente de época islámica (S.XIV), que como todo parece indicar se trata del complejo eremítico de la zawiya del Quemado. Pese al limitado alcance de lo intervenido, se puede a avanzar que éste se trata de una edificación envergadura. En lo que respecta al edificio objeto de la intervención, la crujía SE del Hospital de San Juan de Dios, o lo que es lo mismo, la crujía correspondiente a la primitiva iglesia, se han documentado las diferentes fases evolutivas del mismo, desde su construcción en el siglo XVI, a las transformaciones acaecidas en el siglo XVIII y a partir del 1900, de las cuales existen ítems muy concretos que una vez intervenidos y recuperados enriquecerán el resultado final de la rehabilitación.

The hospital (16th century) was built on the site of an earlier building from the Islamic period (14th century), which, as everything seems to indicate, was the hermitage complex of the zawiya del Quemado. Despite the limited scope of the intervention, it can be said that this is a large building. With regard to the building that is the object of the intervention, the SE bay of the Hospital de San Juan de Dios, or in other words, the bay corresponding to the original church, the different evolutionary phases of the building have been documented, from its construction in the 16th century to the transformations that took place in the 18th century and from 1900 onwards, of which there are very specific items that, once intervened and recovered, will enrich the final result of the refurbishment.
