Intervención arqueológica preventiva en el solar sito en los nº 40,42,44 de la calle Mesones, Alcalá del Río, Sevilla: aportaciones al conocimiento del área periurbana meridional de la antigua Ilipa Magna

Abstract

El solar objeto de estudio se ubica en el ámbito periférico sur inmediato a la muralla que cercaba la antigua Ilipa Magna. Se han detectado diferentes procesos que nos indican el uso de este espacio desde inicios del siglo I y durante el siglo II d.C. como zona marginal destinada al arrojo de deshechos de tipo constructivo, doméstico y artesanal. A partir del último cuarto del siglo I y hasta inicios del siglo III d.C., se ha constatado de forma coetánea la paulatina ocupación funeraria de este ámbito, caracterizada por la presencia de un triclinium funerario (70 - 100 d.C.), y por un área de necrópolis con acotados funerarios (90 - 300 d.C.).

The site being presented is localised quite close to the southern part of the wall which enclosed the ancient Ilipa Magna. It have been discovered some archaeological constructive remains belonging to the first and second century d.C. which indicate a function like domestic and craft rubbish dump of this space. From the last quarter of the first century d.C. until the beginning of the third century d.C., a funerary use of this area has been documented, which is characterised by the presence of a funerary triclinium (70-100 d.C.) and by some other elements of this burial area.
