Actuación arqueológica en cavidades de la Sierra Norte de Sevilla (6ª fase Proyecto General de Investigación CAREQ)

Abstract

En este trabajo presentamos los resultados preliminares de la actividad arqueológica llevada a cabo en Cueva La Sima (Constantina Sevilla), durante la fase 5 del PGI CAREQ. La excavación ha confirmado la existencia de una amplia estratigrafía con dos momentos claves de ocupación prehistórica. El más reciente, relacionado con su utilización como necrópolis durante la Edad del Cobre. El otro durante el Pleistoceno Superior cuando fue frecuentado por grupos neandertales que dejaron allí evidencias de su presencia: industria lítica, restos óseos de consumo, estructuras de hogueras, etc. Además, esta ocupación humana alterno con la función de cubil de hienas en otros momentos. In this work we present the preliminary results of the archaeological activity carried out in Cueva La Sima (Constantina Sevilla), during phase 5 of the PGI CAREQ. The excavation has confirmed the existence of extensive stratigraphy with two key moments of prehistoric occupation. The most recent, related to its use as a necropolis during the Copper Age. The other during the Upper Pleistocene when it was frequented by Neanderthal groups who left evidence of their presence there: lithic industry, bone remains of consumption, bonfire structures, etc. Furthermore, this human occupation alternated with the function of hyena den at other times.
