BOSQUES DEL SUR - Ventana del Visitante
Walking or cycling along the Bosques del Sur trail (GR-247) is a fantastic way to discover the largest continuous forested area in Spain; the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park. Walking it is a great way is to really take in all the elements of this great natural paradise of Andalusia, because the trail entails exploring one of the most authentic, quiet and mountainous areas of Spain. Its landscapes, full of life and well-preserved, are among some of the most interesting in southern Europe.
Bosques del Sur is the longest circular hiking route in Spain, encompassing the largest Iberian protected area. Walking its 317 kilometres of circular route, in addition to another 162 kilometres of variants and derivations, enables visitors to discover the richness of these great mountainous and rugged lands, as well as giving walkers the freedom to choose between a great deal of options in terms of exploring different areas, finding varied routes and diverse landscapes.
Iberian nature, one of the most thriving in Europe, is at its most vivid in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park. Its mountains are covered in immense black pine forests and it is home to the sources of the Guadalquivir and Segura rivers. On the Bosques del Sur trail, the hikers cross paths with deer, fallow deer, Iberian ibex, mouflon and wild boar, and are served and vice versa from the sky by golden eagles, griffon vultures and even bearded vultures, which have returned to these mountains signalling hope for a more sustainable future for our planet.
Walking this great trail, step by step, is to embrace in all its glory one of the most stimulating natural landscapes on the European continent. A landscape that rewards the visitor with it beauty, tranquility and vivacity.

The path begins in the Peña del Olivar recreational area, which can be accessed from Úbeda by taking the N-322 in the direction of Albacete. At about 46 kilometres, exit this national road and head along the A-310 towards Siles (24 kilometres). The recreational area is located 2 kilometres from the town of Siles, in the direction of Las Acebeas.
Do not disturb or feed the animals. You would negatively alter their behavior.
