The visitor center is located in the public mountain of Las Navas-Berrocal, a place of great scenic beauty where we can delight our eyes with plant formations typical of the Sevillian mountain range: holm oak and cork oak groves. , riverside vegetation and Mediterranean mount of mastic, rockrose and strawberry trees. Along with these we also find pine and eucalyptus forests, the latter currently the target of forest restorations.
Among the abundant animal species of this place stands out, above all, its population of deer, becoming one of the most ideal places to enjoy the bellowing in the rutting season.
The visitor will be able to see the fossil trunk of the Viar found in 2005 in the Los Destajales farm. It is a unique specimen in Spain due to its characteristics and its degree of fossilization. According to experts, there are only five similar specimens in the world. Due to its excellent state of conservation, it shows an example of the flora that existed approximately 300 million years ago in this area of the Sierra Norte de Sevilla.
We must also mention the passage of the Camino de Santiago on its way to Castilblanco from the Arroyos to Almadén de la Plata.
Opening hour of visitor center parking:
- From October 1st to April 30th: 8:00 h - 18:00 h
- From May 1st to Septemeber 30th: 8:00 h - 21:00 h
Access through Almadén de la Plata is via the Vegas de Tirado road, which starts from this same town.
