DATA OF INTEREST
DESCRIPTION

The Sierra de Aracena has the most extensive system of towns and villages in the entire Sierra Morena. Between the towns a network of roads was woven that these days is still mainly intact although more for historical and cultural purposes than as a modern infrastructure. Doing this path between the mountain capital, Aracena, and one of the most beautiful towns in the area, Linares de la Sierra, will give ourselves the opportunity to recall landscapes and peasantries of gone by although not so very long ago, we shall see what is well kept and what should be preserved.

This hiking trail starts from Aracena, the main town of the region which is quite charming, the hiking trail then goes through part of the valley to Linares de la Sierra, a beautiful town that is said to owe its name to the flax cultivation in the area in times gone by. At the beginning, we are accompanied by orchards and open holm oak woodland (dehesas). The Iberian pigs whose produce have made the mountains so famous feed on their acorns.
