LOMA DEL AIRE

DATA OF INTEREST
DESCRIPTION

The Loma del Aire is located on the northeastern limit of the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park, straddling two aquatic basins: the Rivera de Onza (coming from the Bembézar River) and the Rivera del Huéznar basins.

In this area, typical to Sierra Morena, with a series of mountains, ravines and hills, the Loma del Canario and Loma de Quiruela both stand out. The latter is named after a type of heather, here called quiruela. In the distance, reaching the province of Córdoba, you can see Sierra Albarrana, in the Neighbouring Sierra de Hornachuelos Natural Park.

In valleys and slopes with better quality land, larger oak and cork oak groves grow, which are mainly dedicated to extensive livestock farming. The poorest and most eroded or acidic soils are covered with rockrose and heather, accompanied by interesting shrubs for the fauna, such as strawberry trees, narrow-leaved mock privet, etc.

Here, some of the most emblematic birds of prey of Sierra Morena, such as vultures and various eagles, fly overhead.
