The route of the signposted itinerary coincides with sections of the paths known as the Linares de la Sierra to Los Madroñeros, the Mailozona path (also known as Marilozana) and the path from Alájar to Los Madroñeros. The path to be offered proposes to deviate from the paths that lead to the village of Los Madroñeros from both localities, cutting through the hill known as El Caracol (764m).
The path is the characteristic intercommunication route between the mountain villages in the area. It is used by muleteers and owners of the adjoining estates to transport goods and to carry out the work involved in the agricultural exploitation of the farms in both municipalities.
The route runs almost entirely between stone walls and is surrounded by oak trees and pastures with some large cork oaks. The vegetation is typical of sunny areas, with the exception of the sections closest to both towns, where there are gallery forests in Linares de la Sierra and areas of denser shady woodland in the area around Alájar.
The views that the route offers from the south, as we approach both towns, are of great interest, as we can enjoy unique panoramic views of the towns that can only be seen from the path, as the main accesses to these towns are from the north. Of particular interest is the view of the Peña de Arias Montano, a site of great geological and historical-artistic interest.
