Mesa Roldán is a flat promontory formed by corals that took advantage of the high bottom that constituted the volcanic dome to settle and form a reef that fossilised and became visible with the drop in sea level. In the highest part we can see the Mesa Roldán tower, located at one of the highest points of the Almeria coast.
The interpretation of various geological traces found on this hiking trail explain the formation of the current relief; be it of historical or cultural nature, since heritage elements of interest are not lacking along the way; its biodiversity is also remarkable.
From Carboneras take the AL-5106 towards Agua Amarga, heading south. After travelling for about 5 km, we will find an esplanade with an information point, where we take the turn-off to our left towards Mesa Roldán. At about 250 m the path starts on our right.
