Istituto Comprensivo di Medicina

Medicina, where all our Istituto Comprensivo’s seven schools are located,  is a municipality 25km from the  Metropolitan City of Bologna,  and is situated on  the San Vitale provincial road, which  connects Bologna to Ravenna.

Our Istituto, which accommodates all the pupils aged 3 to 14 living in Medicina and its districts, is supported by the townspeople, the local  authority,  associations and institutions of our municipality in its educational projects. These precious collaborations contribute to create a sense of belonging for the pupils and their families, and to share the schools’ initiatives with our community.

Our mission as Istituto Comprensivo is to develop well-balanced personalities in our children and teenagers, and to raise active and responsible citizens, who can make realistic choices that can be valuable and meaningful for their lives, today and tomorrow.

We aim for our pupils to become:

  • goodmannered, respecting social shared rules in their interpersonal relationships;
  • educated, able to understand, learn, communicate, share, elaborate, deal with problems, solve them, and actively use what they have learnt, according to their own individual potential;
  • responsible, able to use introspection, to orient themselves in the complexity of different social and cultural realities, to seek the most authentic values in life, to develop an esthetic sense, to make conscious decisions.

Our Istituto strives to:

  • offer a positive motivation towards learning;
  • create the right conditions to promote meaningful learning and educational success for every pupil;
  • facilitate an adequate learning levelthat takes the individual development into account.

Our vision is to create an “open” school, meant to be also a  place for educational experimental research and innovation,  for promoting active citizenship, granting everyone the right to education and equal opportunities to reacheducational success.
