EL PALMERAL. ESPACIO INICIARTE
CATALOGUE
The city changes, cultural activity is intensifying all around us, and institutions see culture as a new costume in which they can dress up the tourist-oriented services that Málaga has to offer. Consequently, in addition to the museums that already existed in the city, we are now witnessing the emergence of new venues in reconverted factories and similar defunct infrastructures, as well as the arrival of foreign cultural institutions eager to carve out a niche for themselves in our backyard.
Felicidad Museística (Museum Happiness) features the proposals of eight artists associated with the Espacio Cienfuegos Cultural Association: five are members, and three have close ties to the initiative. This common interest led to a project in which each work is based on one of the city's principal art museums or new institutions poised to open in the immediate future. The artists took their assigned museum and made it their own, analysing its current situation and its repercussions for the Málaga art scene from their own creative perspectives.
The exhibition catalogue features an essay by Rogelio López Cuenca entitled "The White Elephant and the Horde".
