Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI) is an administrative action to promote innovation aimed at fostering the development of new innovative markets from the demand side, through the instrument of public procurement. The PPI is addressed by working from the demand side of the public manager who puts out to tender public procurement of innovation contracts and from the supply side, that is, from the companies that compete in the tenders by helping them in the competitive game to participate and submit innovative offers in such contracting procedures. The PPI pursues the following objectives:
- The improvement of public services through the incorporation of innovative goods or services.
- The promotion of business innovation.
- The boost to the internationalization of innovation using the local public market as a launching or reference client
