
Geoturism is a natural and cultural tourism, environmentally respectful, that offers to visitors a time trip through the ancient history of Earth, promoting at the same time the sustainable development of rural areas.
One of the main goals of geoparks is the promotion of geoturism: touristic offers mostly motivated by the outstanding geological characteristics of a given area or a particular element.
Geotouristic activities within the Sierras Subbéticas Geopark comprise:
- Geological trips: different brochures edited by the geopark devoted to the use and promotion of its geological heritage:
- Mirador del Cañón del río Bailón (10,7 MB)
- Cuaderno geológico Sendero río Bailón (10,7 MB)
- An app (Camíname) for the Bailón River geological trip.
- Bike and horse routes que tienen en un elemento geológico su motivo de atracción.
- Sport events configured to show the geology of a given area: sport activities (trekking, climbing, speleology or kayak) geologically motivated.
- Workshop and activities on Geology, archaeological heritage or mining history.
- Elaboration, distribution and sale of Geopark products: touristic products based on the geological heritage.
- Public equipment with information about the Earth history: Santa Rita visitors centre, Los Murciélagos Cave Eco-museum, La Trufa Mycological Garden and trail network of the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park.
