"APTE Innovation Spaces" is an initiative framed in the Project of Visibility of Innovation Spaces promoted by the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE).

This event is held simultaneously in science and technology parks throughout the country, with the aim of bringing science and technology closer to society and promoting the culture of open innovation.

In this edition, the Biobank of the SSPA will open its doors on November 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., to offer visitors the opportunity to see first-hand how biological material destined for biomedical research is preserved and managed.

The SSPA Biobank organizes the fourth edition of the webminar on October 8 "Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia in the clinical field". The main objective of this webinar is to communicate to professionals of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) general aspects about the concept, operation and regulation of Biobanks for biomedical research purposes.

The webinar will be held virtually through the iAVANTE's teletraining platform and has requested accreditation as a continuous training activity from the General Secretariat of Public Health and Health R&D of the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía, according to the criteria of the Continuing Education Commission of the National Health System.

This year, the event celebrates its 15th edition and will take place in all the Andalusian provinces and in almost 400 European cities simultaneously on September 25. On this occasion, the SSPA Biobank will be present in emblematic enclaves of Andalusia such as the Paseo del Salón in Granada,... In these cities, SSPA Biobank professionals will carry out workshops, experiences,... that will bring citizens closer in a playful and fun way to research biobanks and the role they play in biomedical research, as well as the importance of donating biological samples and data for research.

One more year the Biobank of the SSPA together with the Institute of Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC) organizes the workshop "Ethical and legal aspects of the management and use of human biological samples in research projects". In this edition the workshop will be in a face-to-face format and will be held at the iMIBIC auditorium during September 17.

The workshop is free of charge and requires accreditation through the Andalusian Health Quality Agency (ACSA).

Next July, Granada will host the fifth edition of the State Congress of Bioscience Students, whose main venue will be the Faculty of Sciences of the Fuentenueva Campus, organized by the Association of Bioscience Students (AEBI).

One more year, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia joins as an active collaborating entity of the event. On this occasion, the Biobank will participate with the organization of micro-courses and will also have an information stand dedicated to the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research.

Place: Official College of Physicians of Jaén

On May 28, the XI Multidisciplinary Meeting of Tumors is held Thoracic tumors organized by the Thoracic Tumors Subcommittee at the Official College of Physicians of Jaén from 16:30. The meeting will have a mixed format, so that it can be followed in person at the school headquarters or online, and will bring together health professionals, researchers and experts from disciplines such as oncology, pulmonology, pathological anatomy, scientific methodology and clinical trials.

The day will address fundamental aspects related to the research and approach to thoracic tumors, including the functioning of ethics committees, the application for projects and research grants, participation in clinical trials and the statistical methodology applied to biomedical research. will analyze the strategic role of the SSPA Biobank (see the full program here)

In this context, professionals from the Jaén Node of the SSPA Biobank will present how this platform can contribute to the development of research projects and will present the portfolio of services that available to the research community. In addition, the Register of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research will be presented as a tool that facilitates access to biological samples and associated data to promote the development of new research projects.

On May 26, at 5:00 p.m., professionals from the Seville Node of the Biobank of the SSPA of the University Hospital Virgen Macarena will participate in the XXVI Scientific and Informative Conference on Multiple Sclerosis, organized by the Federation of Multiple Sclerosis Associations of Andalusia (FEDEMA) on the occasion of the celebration of World Multiple Sclerosis Day.

The day will include various informative talks in which topics of special interest related to this disease, such as the role of biobanks in multiple sclerosis research, the rights of affected people, the impact of symptoms such as mental fatigue, developments in diagnosis and treatment, as well as the application of care protocols in Andalusia.

The Fair of Science of Jerez de la Frontera is an initiative developed by the CEP of Jerez with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology-Ministry of Science and Innovation, as well as other public and private organizations.

This year marks the fourteenth edition, the fair will be held on May 26, 27 and 28 in Callejón de los Bolos, and the Node Provincial of Cadiz of the Biobank of the SSPA will be present in it sharing a stand with the colleagues of the Biomedical Research and Innovation Institute of Cadiz (INiBICA). During the day, its professionals will share with the attendees the importance of the donation of biological samples for the advancement of science and will carry out various scientific experiences.

On May 24, the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) will hold the IV Race-March against Cancer in Granada, a solidarity event that will have its departure and arrival next to the Science Park of Andalusia.

The initiative will have different modalities of participation: a 10-kilometer competitive race and a 5-kilometer route that can be carried out both running and walking. After the test activities will continue at the Parque Tico Medina with various proposals aimed at participants and attendees.

During the day, professionals from the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will be present in the Tico Medina Park to inform the public about the importance of the donation of biological samples for research and about the different ways to collaborate with the advancement of biomedical research through the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research (REDMI)

On May 21, the Coordinating Node of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will join the blood collection organized at the Transfusion, Tissues and Cells Center of Granada at the Biomedical Research Center of the University of Granada.

From 10:00 to at 13:00, Biobank professionals will inform attendees about the importance of sample donation for biomedical research and invite them to collaborate by donating biological samples and data for various scientific projects.

Likewise, participants will have the opportunity to register in the Andalusian Registry of Biological Sample Donors to Biomedical Research, a key tool that facilitates citizen participation in the advancement of science and personalized medicine.
