Dissemination Activities

The SSPA Biobank is committed to the dissemination of science, education and the social return on investment in research. From the SSPA Biobank we develop an extensive program of activities that is aimed at all types of audiences with a varied offer of activities: conferences, debates, workshops, open days, participation in scientific dissemination events and festivals,... organized both in its facilities as in other external spaces, museums, schools, hospitals.

V State Congress of Bioscience Students

Date: July 15-18, 2026

Place: Faculty of Sciences, Granada.

Next July, Granada will host the fifth edition of the State Congress of Bioscience Students, whose main venue will be the Faculty of Sciences of the Fuentenueva Campus, organized by the Association of Bioscience Students (AEBI).


One more year, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia joins as an active collaborating entity of the event. On this occasion, the Biobank will participate with the organization of micro-courses and will also have an information stand dedicated to the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research.

VI Meeting of Associations Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio

Date: April 10, 2026

Place: Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio, Granada

The Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio de Granada, through its Citizen Participation Commission, is organising the VI Meeting of Associations on 10 April. This event has become a key annual event to promote collaboration and dialogue between entities in the field of health and health professionals.

The meeting aims to strengthen ties, share experiences and promote citizen participation in the hospital environment. It will have informative tables and workshops given by hospital professionals as well as associations, foundations and non-governmental organizations. profits linked to health in Grenada.

As in previous editions, the SSPA Biobank will have an information table where it will explain how to participate in the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research, both individually and through patient associations.

 

UniStem Day. The never-ending journey of stem cell research

Date: March 20, 2026

Place: Genyo Assembly Hall, Granada.

UniStem Day is an international day dedicated to the dissemination and education of stem cell research. This event aims to bring high school students and the general public closer to the world of science, in particular the field of stem cells, fostering interest in biomedical research and scientific careers.

The Pfizer-University of Granada–Junta de Andalucía Center for Genomics and Oncology Research (GENYO) has been, once again, one of the organizers of UniStem Day in Spain. Our colleague Dr. Purificación Catalina will participate in said event by giving the presentation "The role of the SSPA Biobank as a Node of the National Bank of Cell Lines".

The day will be held on March 20 in the Genyo assembly hall from 09:00 to 12:30.

XII Congress of Biohealth Research Students

Date: March 11, 12 and 13, 2026

Place: Degree Hall of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Granada

Once again, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will participate in the annual biosanitary research congress organized by the academy of internal students of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Granada. During this edition the SSPA Biobank will have an information booth on the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research where attendees will be informed of the importance of donating biological samples and their associated data and will also be invited to register in it.

X Cytogenetics and Flow Cytometry Course in Characterization of Multipotent Cells and Pluripotent Cells

Date: March 11, 12 and 13, 2026

Place: Coordinating Node of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia, CIBM building in the Technological Park of Health Sciences (Grenada)

The course Basic Theoretical and Practical Foundations of Cytogenetics and Flow Cytometry in the Characterization of Multipotent Cells (hMSCs) and Pluripotent Cells (hESCs and iPSCs) addresses the use of cytogenetics, flow cytometry and genome editing techniques in the characterization of multipotent and pluripotent cells, widely used by the scientific community, not only to obtain reliable results, but also as an internationally established methodology in the characterization protocols for establishment, deposit and banking of hMSCs, hESCs and iPSCs.

The course is aimed at master's students, graduates in Health Sciences, students interested in working in the field of iPSCs, hMSCs, hESCs and personnel in the biosanitary field.

Days for International Childhood Cancer Day

Date: February 13, 2026

Location: Pfizer Center (Genyo), Granada

On February 13, the Association of Mothers and Fathers of Oncological Children of Granada "aupa" organizes the first days to commemorate the International Day of Childhood Cancer.

From 17:00 to 18:30, researchers, clinicians and relatives of affected patients will give their vision and experience of the disease and the session will close with the reading of the manifesto on palliative care of the Spanish Federation of Cancer Families Infant (FEFCI).

During the day, the Biobank team will explain to the attendees the relevance of donating biological samples and data to promote biomedical research, and will encourage them to register in the Andalusian Registry of Donors of Biological Samples for Biomedical Research.

Biological Sample Collection Campaign

Date: February 16 and 23, 2026

Place: Faculty of Medicine, Granada

On February 16 and 23, the Coordinating Node of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will join the blood collections organized by the Transfusion, Tissues and Cells of Granada in the Pintá de la Zubia house and in the Faculty of Health Sciences of Granada, respectively.

From 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Biobank professionals will inform attendees about the importance of sample donation for biomedical research and invite them to collaborate by donating biological samples and data for various scientific projects

Participants will also have the opportunity to register with the Andalusian Registry of Biological Sample Donors for Biomedical Research, a key tool that facilitates citizen participation in the advancement of science and personalized medicine.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF the GIRL and WOMAN IN SCIENCE

Biobank has organized a series of activities with the aim of making visible the fundamental role of women in science and, in particular, in the field of biomedical research. Throughout the day, SSPA Biobank professionals will hold talks in different educational centers, offering participants the opportunity to get up close and personal with the work being done at the SSPA Biobank. With these initiatives, the SSPA Biobank seeks to inspire future generations of researchers, foster interest in science among girls and young people and highlight the essential contribution of women in research Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) and the Provincial Nodes of Cádiz and Málaga of the Biobank of the SSPA have organized a series of activities with the aim of making visible the fundamental role of women in science and, in particular, in the field of biomedical research.

Throughout the day, the professionals of the SSPA Biobank will hold talks in different educational centers, offering participants the opportunity to learn about the work carried out in the SSPA Biobank.

With these initiatives, the SSPA Biobank seeks to inspire future generations of researchers, foster interest in science among girls and young people and value the contribution essential role of women in biomedical research.

 

Date: December 3 and 4, 2025

Place: Biobank Coordinator Node of the SSPA, Grenada

The course aims to offer comprehensive training - both theoretical and practical - on the management and maintenance of Human Pluripotent Stem Cells (hPSCs), as well as on the good laboratory practices necessary for their safe and efficient application in the field of biomedical research.

This training activity will be carried out in person for participants enrolled in the facilities of the SSPA Biobank Coordinating Node (Granada).

The theoretical part will be free and open access, prior pre-registration until full capacity is reached, and will also be streamed.

The course is aimed at predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers in the biosanitary area, as well as emerging researchers interested in starting or deepening their work with human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). The registration deadline is 18 November and the number of places is limited to 12.
