Dissemination Activities
The SSPA Biobank is committed to the dissemination of science, education and the social return on investment in research. From the SSPA Biobank we develop an extensive program of activities that is aimed at all types of audiences with a varied offer of activities: conferences, debates, workshops, open days, participation in scientific dissemination events and festivals,... organized both in its facilities as in other external spaces, museums, schools, hospitals.
IV Edition of the Webminar Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia in the clinical field

Date: October 8, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Location: Virtual. IAVANTE tele-training platform
The SSPA Biobank organizes the fourth edition of the webminar on October 8 "Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia in the clinical field". The main objective of this webinar is to communicate to professionals of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) general aspects about the concept, operation and regulation of Biobanks for biomedical research purposes.
The webminar will be held virtually through the iAVANTE's teletraining platform and has requested accreditation as a continuous training activity from the General Secretariat of Public Health and Health R&D of the Ministry of Health and Consumption of the Junta de Andalucía, according to the criteria of the Continuing Education Commission of the National Health System.

European Researchers' Night @s 2025

Date: September 26, 2025
Place: Almeria, Granada and Malaga.
One more year, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia, through the Progreso y Salud Foundation, will participate in the European Researchers' Night.
This year, the event celebrates its 14th edition and will take place in all the Andalusian provinces and in almost 400 European cities simultaneously on September 26. On this occasion, the SSPA Biobank will be present in emblematic enclaves of Andalusia, the Mirador de la Rambla, in Almería, the Paseo del Parque, in Malaga and the Paseo del Salón, in Granada. In these cities the professionals of the Biobank of the SSPA will hold workshops, experiences,... that will bring citizens closer in a playful and fun way to what research biobanks are and the role they play in biomedical research as well as the importance of donating biological samples and data for research.

Place: IMIBIC Assembly Hall, Córdoba
One more year the Biobank of the SSPA together with the Institute of Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC) organizes the workshop "Ethical and legal aspects of the management and use of human biological samples in research projects". In this edition the workshop will be in a face-to-face format and will be held at the iMIBIC auditorium during September 25.
The workshop is free of charge and requires accreditation through the Andalusian Health Quality Agency (ACSA).

I Course on Biomedical Research Support Structures

Date: September 17 and 24, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Place: Virtual and face-to-face at Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital and Malaga Regional University Hospital
The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) launches, together with the training unit of the Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital, the first edition of the course ‘Support Structures for Biomedical Research’, a free 10-hour training aimed at staff of the Andalusian Health Service.
The course has 25 places and will be developed in blended learning mode, combining an online theoretical part through the gESFORMA platform, with a face-to-face session to be held at the facilities of the Regional University Hospital of Malaga. Currently, the course is in the process of being accredited by the Andalusian Health Quality Agency (ACSA).
Throughout the training, key contents will be addressed to support biomedical research, including ethical and legal aspects fundamentals, the operation of a biobank, and the handling of biological samples in research settings.

IV State Congress of Bioscience Students

Date: July 15-18, 2025
Place: Faculty of Sciences, Granada.
Next July, Granada will host the third edition of the State Congress of Bioscience Students, whose main venue will be the Faculty of Sciences of the Fuentenueva Campus, organized by the Association of Bioscience Students (AEBI).
One more year, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia joins as an active collaborating entity of the event. On this occasion, the Biobank will participate with the organization of two micro-courses -one of them in collaboration with IAVANTE— and will also have an information stand dedicated to the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research.

Blood and Plasma Donation

Date: June 12, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Place: Palacio de congresos de Granada
On the occasion of International Blood Donor Day, the Transfusion, Tissue and Cell Center of Granada - under the Ministry of Health and Consumption of the Junta de Andalucía - organizes the great summer collection under the slogan "Donate blood, donate plasma. Together we save lives.”
This action is part of the ‘Summer solidarity’, an initiative that aims to strengthen blood reserves for the summer months, while promoting regular and altruistic donation among citizens.
The collection will take place on Thursday, June 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Palacio de Congresos de Granada.
During the day, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will be present with an information stand, where attendees will be invited to be part of the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research, thus promoting citizen participation in projects of research.
XXVII Science Fair Parque de las Ciencias Andalucía-Granada

Date: 10 May 2025
Place: Parque de las Ciencias de Andalucía-Granada, Granada.
Next Saturday, May 10, the Science Park will celebrate the 27th edition of its Science Fair Science, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On this occasion, the SSPA Biobank will participate with an activity entitled ‘A biobank for research’. During the activity, attendees will have the opportunity to become biobank technicians and simulate the blood processing process and its subsequent storage in the bank to be used in research projects. In addition, information on the importance of sample donation for research will be provided.
The workshop will be held in two sessions, at 11:30 and at 13:30, in the Didactic Classroom 2, located in the Technophorus Pavilion of the Macroscope building. Don't miss out, we're waiting for you!

XIX edition of the International Conference on Science in the Street, Diverciencia 2025

Date: 08-09/05/2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Place: Plaza Alta and María Cristina Park, Algeciras (Cádiz)
On May 8 and 9, the city of Algeciras will be the setting for the XIX International Conference on Science in the Street ‘Diverciencia’, an event that will bring together the scientific work carried out by students of Infant, Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate. The presentations will take place in Plaza Alta and María Cristina Park, and will be organized by the Association of Friends of Science. The main objective of this event is to provide students of various educational levels with the opportunity to exchange experiences, value the work of others and strengthen their critical capacity.
This event also seeks to promote scientific vocations, underline the relevance of science in everyday life, boost scientific education and disseminate the scientific and technological projects of the students to the community. In addition, the research work carried out by the students themselves is highlighted. In this edition, the SSPA Biobank will actively participate thanks to the professionals of the Provincial Node of Cadiz. At its stand, scientific workshops will be held and information will be provided on the importance of sample donation for the research.
Science Fair 2025 Jerez de la Frontera

Date: April 8, 2025
Place: Cloisters of Santo Domingo, Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz)
The Science Fair of Jerez de la Frontera is an initiative developed by the CEP of Jerez with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for the Science and Technology - Ministry of Science and Innovation, as well as other public and private organizations.
In this edition, the fair will be held on April 8, 9 and 10 in the cloisters of Santo Domingo, and the Provincial Node of Cadiz of the SSPA Biobank will be present on April 8. During the day, your professionals will share with the attendees the importance of donation of biological samples for the advancement of science and will carry out various scientific experiences.
