Dissemination Activities
The SSPA Biobank is committed to the dissemination of science, education and the social return on investment in research. From the SSPA Biobank we develop an extensive program of activities that is aimed at all types of audiences with a varied offer of activities: conferences, debates, workshops, open days, participation in scientific dissemination events and festivals,... organized both in its facilities as in other external spaces, museums, schools, hospitals.
European Researchers' Night @s 2026
This year, the event celebrates its 15th edition and will take place in all the Andalusian provinces and in almost 400 European cities simultaneously on September 25. On this occasion, the SSPA Biobank will be present in emblematic enclaves of Andalusia such as the Paseo del Salón in Granada,... In these cities, SSPA Biobank professionals will carry out workshops, experiences,... that will bring citizens closer in a playful and fun way to research biobanks and the role they play in biomedical research, as well as the importance of donating biological samples and data for research.

V State Congress of Bioscience Students
Date: July 15-18, 2026
Place: Faculty of Sciences, Granada.
Next July, Granada will host the fifth edition of the State Congress of Bioscience Students, whose main venue will be the Faculty of Sciences of the Fuentenueva Campus, organized by the Association of Bioscience Students (AEBI).
One more year, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia joins as an active collaborating entity of the event. On this occasion, the Biobank will participate with the organization of micro-courses and will also have an information stand dedicated to the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research.

XI Reunión Multidisciplinar de Tumores Torácicos
Fecha: 28 de mayo de 2026
Lugar: Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Jaén
El 28 de mayo se celebra la XI Reunión Multidisciplinar de Tumores Torácicos organizada por el Subcomité de Tumores Torácicos en el Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Jaén a partir de las 16:30. El encuentro tendrá un formato mixto, de manera que podrá seguirse de forma presencial en la sede colegial o de forma online, y reunirá a profesionales sanitarios, investigadores y expertos de disciplinas como la oncología, la neumología, la anatomía patológica, la metodología científica y los ensayos clínicos.
La jornada abordará aspectos fundamentales relacionados con la investigación y el abordaje de los tumores torácicos, entre ellos el funcionamiento de los comités de ética, la solicitud de proyectos y ayudas a la investigación, la participación en ensayos clínicos y la metodología estadística aplicada a la investigación biomédica. Asimismo, se analizará el papel estratégico del Biobanco del SSPA (consulta el programa completo aquí)
En este contexto, profesionales del Nodo de Jaén del Biobanco del SSPA presentarán cómo esta plataforma puede contribuir al desarrollo de los proyectos de investigación y dará a conocer la cartera de servicios que tiene disponible para la comunidad investigadora. Además, se expondrá el Registro de Donantes de Muestras para Investigación Biomédica como una herramienta que facilita el acceso a muestras biológicas y datos asociados para impulsar el desarrollo de nuevos proyectos de investigación.

XXVI Scientific and Informative Conference on Multiple Sclerosis

On May 26, at 5:00 p.m., professionals from the Seville Node of the Biobank of the SSPA of the University Hospital Virgen Macarena will participate in the XXVI Scientific and Informative Conference on Multiple Sclerosis, organized by the Federation of Multiple Sclerosis Associations of Andalusia (FEDEMA) on the occasion of the celebration of World Multiple Sclerosis Day.
The day will include various informative talks in which topics of special interest related to this disease, such as the role of biobanks in multiple sclerosis research, the rights of affected people, the impact of symptoms such as mental fatigue, developments in diagnosis and treatment, as well as the application of care protocols in Andalusia.

Feria de la Ciencia 2026 Jerez de la Frontera

The Fair of Science of Jerez de la Frontera is an initiative developed by the CEP of Jerez with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology-Ministry of Science and Innovation, as well as other public and private organizations.
This year marks the fourteenth edition, the fair will be held on May 26, 27 and 28 in Callejón de los Bolos, and the Node Provincial of Cadiz of the Biobank of the SSPA will be present in it sharing a stand with the colleagues of the Biomedical Research and Innovation Institute of Cadiz (INiBICA). During the day, its professionals will share with the attendees the importance of the donation of biological samples for the advancement of science and will carry out various scientific experiences.

Race Granada march against cancer 2026
Date: May 24, 2026
Location: Avenida de la Ciencia, opposite Parque de las Ciencias de Andalucía, Granada
On May 24, the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) will hold the IV Race-March against Cancer in Granada, a solidarity event that will have its departure and arrival next to the Science Park of Andalusia.
The initiative will have different modalities of participation: a 10-kilometer competitive race and a 5-kilometer route that can be carried out both running and walking. After the test activities will continue at the Parque Tico Medina with various proposals aimed at participants and attendees.
During the day, professionals from the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will be present in the Tico Medina Park to inform the public about the importance of the donation of biological samples for research and about the different ways to collaborate with the advancement of biomedical research through the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research (REDMI)

Day of donation of blood and biological samples for research
Date: May 21, 2026
Place: Biomedical Research Centre, Grenada
On May 21, the Coordinating Node of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will join the blood collection organized at the Transfusion, Tissues and Cells Center of Granada at the Biomedical Research Center of the University of Granada.
From 10:00 to at 13:00, Biobank professionals will inform attendees about the importance of sample donation for biomedical research and invite them to collaborate by donating biological samples and data for various scientific projects.
Likewise, participants will have the opportunity to register in the Andalusian Registry of Biological Sample Donors to Biomedical Research, a key tool that facilitates citizen participation in the advancement of science and personalized medicine.
Coffees with Science in the Provincial Node of Cadiz of the SSPA Biobank

Place: Faculty of Nursing and Physiotherapy of the UCA, Cádiz.
Node Professionals Provincial of Cádiz of the SSPA Biobank, in collaboration with the Institute of Biomedical Research and Innovation of Cádiz (INiBICA) and the Descbre Foundation, have organized a cycle of Coffees with Science with the aim of bringing the work of research biobanks closer to the public and highlighting the importance of the donation of biological samples for scientific advancement.
These meetings are aimed at the general public, patient associations and health professionals interested in knowing how biological samples and associated data are used in research, as well as the different tools and ways of participation available.
This initiative aims to bring biomedical research and research staff closer to society through face-to-face, participatory and accessible meetings, which will allow all doubts and concerns about the role of biobanks and health research to be resolved first-hand.

XXVIII Science Fair Parque de las Ciencias Andalucía-Granada

Place: Parque de las Ciencias de Andalucía-Granada, Granada.
Next Saturday, May 9, the Science Park will celebrate the 28th edition of its Science Fair Science, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On this occasion, the SSPA Biobank will participate with an activity entitled ‘A biobank for research’. During the activity, attendees will have the opportunity to become biobank technicians and simulate the blood processing process and its subsequent storage in the bank to be used in research projects. In addition, information on the importance of sample donation for research will be provided.
The workshop will be held in two sessions, at 11:30 and at 14:00, in the Didactic Classroom 1, located in the Technophorus Pavilion of the Macroscope building. Don't miss out, we're waiting for you!
