Dissemination Activities

The SSPA Biobank is committed to the dissemination of science, education and the social return on investment in research. From the SSPA Biobank we develop an extensive program of activities that is aimed at all types of audiences with a varied offer of activities: conferences, debates, workshops, open days, participation in scientific dissemination events and festivals,... organized both in its facilities as in other external spaces, museums, schools, hospitals.

XXVII Feria de la Ciencia Parque de las Ciencias Andalucía-Granada

El Parque de las Ciencias celebra su 30º aniversario con la emocionante llegada de una nueva edición de la Feria de la Ciencia. Este año marca la 27ª Feria de la Ciencia, que se llevará a cabo el sábado 10 de mayo, desde las 10:00 hasta las 19:00 horas. Para esta edición de la feria, el Biobanco del Sistema Sanitario Público de Andalucía, junto con su Registro de Donantes de Muestras para Investigación Biomédica, estará presente con diferentes actividades. Feria de la Ciencia 2025 Jerez de la Frontera

Fecha: 8 de abril de 2025

Lugar: Claustros de Santo Domingo, Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz)

La Feria de la Ciencia de Jerez de la Frontera es una iniciativa desarollada por el CEP de Jerez con la colaboración de la Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología- Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, así como otras organizaciones públicas y privadas.

En esta edición, la feria se celebrará los días 8, 9 y 10 de abril en los claustros de Santo Domingo, y el Nodo Provincial de Cádiz del Biobanco del SSPA estará presente el día 8 de abril. Durante la jornada, sus profesionales compartirán con los asistentes la importancia de la donación de muestras biológicas para el avance de la ciencia y llevarán a cabo diversas experiencias científicas.

III Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio Meeting of Associations

Date: April 4, 2025

Place: Hall of the Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio, Granada

The Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio de Granada, through its Commission of Citizen Participation, organizes the III Meeting of Associations on April 4. This event has become a key annual event to foster collaboration and dialogue between health entities and health professionals.

The meeting aims to strengthen ties, share experiences and promote citizen participation in the hospital environment. It will have informative tables and workshops given by hospital professionals as well as associations, foundations and non-profit organizations linked to health in Granada.

As in previous editions, the SSPA Biobank will have an information table where it will explain how to participate in the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research, both individually and through patient associations.

 

Course on Brain and Retinal Organoids Derived from Pluripotent Stem Cells

Date: March 27 and 28, 2025 at 9:00 am

Location: Inve Centerstigation, Technology and Innovation of the University of Seville (CITIUS)

The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia and the Center for Research, Technology and Innovation of the University of Seville (CITIUS) organize the course on ‘Brain and retinal organoids derived from pluripotent stem cells’.

This course, which will be held on March 27 and 28, 2025,in-person modality, aims to provide theoretical and practical training on the generation, maintenance, characterization and use of different biomodels, including retinal and brain organoids derived from human pluripotent stem cells. In addition, the good laboratory practices necessary for its correct handling will be addressed.

The course led by Investipredoctoral and postdoctoral consultants in biosanitary areas, personnel from the biosanitary field, interested in working in the field of pluripotent stem cells (PSC) and organoids of the central nervous system, will be carried out at the facilities of the Center for Research, Technology and Innovation of the University of Seville (CITIUS) and has the accreditation of the Quality AgencyHealth of Andalusia.

IV Meeting of Nurses and Patients: A space for dialogue to advance research and health ethics

Date: March 20, 2025

Place: Assembly Hall of Hospital San Rafael, Granada

On March 20, the College of Nurses of Granada and the Platform of Patient Associations of Granada organize the IV Meeting of Nurses and Patients at the Hospital of San Rafael. This event will serve as a space for dialogue to strengthen research and ethics in the health field.

During the day, healthcare professionals and patients will share experiences and reflect on the importance of health care research. In addition, experts from the Biobank Coordinator Node will address the relevance of sample donation for research and the fundamental role of the patient in the Sample Donor Registry for Biomedical Research.

UniStem Day. The never-ending journey of stem cell research

Date: March 15, 2025

Place: Genyo Assembly Hall, Granada.

UniStem Day is an international day dedicated to the dissemination and education of stem cell research. This event aims to bring high school students and the general public closer to the world of science, in particular the field of stem cells, fostering interest in biomedical research and scientific careers.

The Pfizer-University of Granada-Andalus Board of Genomics and Oncology Research (GENYO) has been, once again, one of the organizers of UniStem Day in Spain. Our colleague Dr. Purificación Catalina will participate in this event by giving the presentation "The role of the SSPA Biobank as a Node of the National Bank of Cell Lines".

The day will be held on March 15 in the living room of Genyo acts from 10:15 to 10:45.

Ist Biology Week

Date: March 11-13, 2025 at 9:00 am

Place: SSPA Biobank Coordinator Node, Granada

The Ist Biology Week is a joint initiative of the Official College of Biologists of Andalusia (COBA) and the University of Granada (UGR), scheduled to on March 11, 12 and 13, 2025. This event aims to strengthen collaboration between both institutions and bring students closer to the field of biological sciences. During these days, various activities will be carried out, including talks and workshops, both inside and outside the Faculty of Sciences, aimed at students of Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Environmental Sciences

Within the framework of this week, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will actively participate, opening its doors to attendees. This initiative, which will take place on March 13, will allow participants to learn first-hand what a research biobank is, how it works and its relevance in the current biomedical research.

II Conference on Endometriosis

 

Date: March 11, 2025

Location: Assembly hall of the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital in Granada

Next March 11, 2025, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia will participate in the I Conference on endometriosis organized by the Association of Endometriosis Affected People of Granada and the Virgen de las Nievas University Hospital. During the day, Biobank professionals will explain to event attendees the role that the biobank plays in current medical research and will present the Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research as a tool for citizen participation in biomedical research.

The event will take place in the assembly hall of the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital in Granada from 09:00.

 

Biological Sample Collection Campaign

Date: March 10-11, 2025

Place: Faculty of Medicine, Granada

On March 10 and 11, the Coordinating Node of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will join the blood collection organized by the Center for Transfusion, Tissues and Cells of Granada at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Granada.

During the day, Biobank professionals will inform attendees about the importance of donating samples for biomedical research. Specifically, they will invite donors to collaborate on various scientific projects, such as studies on cardiovascular risk in women and the validation of metabolomic biomarkers.

Likewise, participants will have the opportunity to register in the Andalusian Registry of Biological Sample Donors for Biomedical Research, a key tool that facilitates citizen participation in the advancement of science and personalized medicine.
