The Andalusian Network of Transfusion Medicine, Tissue, and Cells constituted by Royal Decree 49/2017,has its own organizational structure that is dependent on the Andalusian Health Service, which includes several management bodies.
The Andalusian Network of Transfusion Medicine, Tissue, and Cells includes eight Transfusion, Tissue, and Cells Centres - one unit per province. These units are responsible for obtaining, processing, and supplying units of blood and blood derivatives to cover the transfusion needs of Andalusian hospitals. In this role, it is responsible for supplying blood and blood derivatives to all public and private hospitals in the Autonomous Community.
In addition, the Transfusion, Tissue, and Cells Centres attend to the demand for tissues and cells that are made by health centres, thereby providing continual service to these centres and coordinating with the Autonomous Coordination of Transplants of Andalusia for the programs regarding obtaining and monitoring tissue and cell implants.
The network’s Portfolio of Services includes a collection of scientific, technical, and administrative activities that are performed in Transfusion, Tissue, and Cells Centres. In line with the provisions of the Andalusian Health Plan, a Program Contract exists between the Ministry of Health and the Andalusian Health Service, including its Strategic Plan, Quality Plan, and Program Contract.
