"APTE Innovation Spaces" is an initiative framed in the Project of Visibility of Innovation Spaces promoted by the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE).
This event is held simultaneously in science and technology parks throughout the country, with the aim of bringing science and technology closer to society and promoting the culture of open innovation.
In this edition, the Biobank of the SSPA will open its doors on November 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., to offer visitors the opportunity to see first-hand how biological material destined for biomedical research is preserved and managed.

Event: “Researching Together, Moving Forward as One: Science and Patients Against Pancreatic Cancer”

The Granada Biosanitary Research Institute (ibs.GRANADA), in collaboration with the Granada Patient Associations Platform, is organizing the event “Researching Together, Moving Forward as One: Science and Patients Against Pancreatic Cancer”, which will take place on November 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in the auditorium of Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital in Granada.
The event aims to bring biomedical research closer to patients, promote their active participation in the generation of scientific knowledge, and highlight the importance of collaboration between researchers, healthcare professionals, and patient associations in advancing research and the fight against pancreatic cancer.
Professionals from the SSPA Biobank will take part in the event with a presentation entitled “The Biobank and the Donor Registry as Tools for Public Participation in Biomedical Research”. The presentation will address the fundamental role of biobanks and biological sample donation in scientific progress, as well as the tools provided by the SSPA Biobank to enable members of the public to get actively involved and contribute to the development of biomedical research.

Science Week 2026
Date: November 3–18, 2026
Location: SSPA Biobank Nodes across the different provinces of Andalusia
Science Week is the largest science outreach event held annually in Europe. During these weeks, universities, research centers, companies, museums, botanical gardens and, in general, knowledge organizations organize a wide range of activities (seminars, round tables, conferences, visits, open days, etc.) aimed at the general public, with the aim of conveying how research, scientific and technological development, and innovation have a positive impact on society, fostering its growth and development.
The overall objective of the event is to encourage public participation in issues related to Science and Technology, bring scientific culture closer to society, and showcase the main inventions and innovations being developed in various fields.
In this new edition, the SSPA Biobank will organize guided tours of its facilities, online and in-person talks at schools, and Con-Ciencia Cafés in the different provinces of Andalusia, with the aim of raising awareness of the Biobank and the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research as tools that enable people to participate directly in biomedical research.

Theoretical and Practical Foundations of Cell Culture – Online Course
Date: November 3 to December 14
Location: Online.
The online course Theoretical and Practical Foundations of Cell Culture aims to provide specialized training in the field of cell culture, giving participants theoretical and practical knowledge of equipment, techniques, types of cell cultures, and their various applications.
The course is intended for graduates in Health Sciences, higher-level technicians in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory Science, higher-level technicians in Pathological Anatomy and Cytodiagnosis, and laboratory technicians in general.
The registration deadline is October 22, and places are limited to 50 participants.
V Edition of the Webinar Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia in the clinical field

The SSPA Biobank organizes the fourth edition of the webminar on October 8 "Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia in the clinical field". The main objective of this webinar is to communicate to professionals of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) general aspects about the concept, operation and regulation of Biobanks for biomedical research purposes.
The webinar will be held virtually through the iAVANTE's teletraining platform and has requested accreditation as a continuous training activity from the General Secretariat of Public Health and Health R&D of the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía, according to the criteria of the Continuing Education Commission of the National Health System.

European Researchers' Night @s 2026
This year, the event celebrates its 15th edition and will take place in all the Andalusian provinces and in almost 400 European cities simultaneously on September 25. On this occasion, the SSPA Biobank will be present in emblematic enclaves of Andalusia such as the Paseo del Salón in Granada,... In these cities, SSPA Biobank professionals will carry out workshops, experiences,... that will bring citizens closer in a playful and fun way to research biobanks and the role they play in biomedical research, as well as the importance of donating biological samples and data for research.

Fourth Edition of the workshop on ethical and legal aspects of the management and use of human biological samples in projects

Place: IMIBIC Assembly Hall, Córdoba
One more year the Biobank of the SSPA together with the Institute of Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC) organizes the workshop "Ethical and legal aspects of the management and use of human biological samples in research projects". In this edition the workshop will be in a face-to-face format and will be held at the iMIBIC auditorium during September 17.
The workshop is free of charge and requires accreditation through the Andalusian Health Quality Agency (ACSA).

V State Congress of Bioscience Students
Date: July 15-18, 2026
Place: Faculty of Sciences, Granada.
Next July, Granada will host the fifth edition of the State Congress of Bioscience Students, whose main venue will be the Faculty of Sciences of the Fuentenueva Campus, organized by the Association of Bioscience Students (AEBI).
One more year, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia joins as an active collaborating entity of the event. On this occasion, the Biobank will participate with the organization of micro-courses and will also have an information stand dedicated to the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research.

XI Multidisciplinary Thoracic Tumor Meeting

Place: Official College of Physicians of Jaén
On May 28, the XI Multidisciplinary Meeting of Tumors is held Thoracic tumors organized by the Thoracic Tumors Subcommittee at the Official College of Physicians of Jaén from 16:30. The meeting will have a mixed format, so that it can be followed in person at the school headquarters or online, and will bring together health professionals, researchers and experts from disciplines such as oncology, pulmonology, pathological anatomy, scientific methodology and clinical trials.
The day will address fundamental aspects related to the research and approach to thoracic tumors, including the functioning of ethics committees, the application for projects and research grants, participation in clinical trials and the statistical methodology applied to biomedical research. will analyze the strategic role of the SSPA Biobank (see the full program here)
In this context, professionals from the Jaén Node of the SSPA Biobank will present how this platform can contribute to the development of research projects and will present the portfolio of services that available to the research community. In addition, the Register of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research will be presented as a tool that facilitates access to biological samples and associated data to promote the development of new research projects.

XXVI Scientific and Informative Conference on Multiple Sclerosis

On May 26, at 5:00 p.m., professionals from the Seville Node of the Biobank of the SSPA of the University Hospital Virgen Macarena will participate in the XXVI Scientific and Informative Conference on Multiple Sclerosis, organized by the Federation of Multiple Sclerosis Associations of Andalusia (FEDEMA) on the occasion of the celebration of World Multiple Sclerosis Day.
The day will include various informative talks in which topics of special interest related to this disease, such as the role of biobanks in multiple sclerosis research, the rights of affected people, the impact of symptoms such as mental fatigue, developments in diagnosis and treatment, as well as the application of care protocols in Andalusia.
