Dissemination Activities

The SSPA Biobank is committed to the dissemination of science, education and the social return on investment in research. From the SSPA Biobank we develop an extensive program of activities that is aimed at all types of audiences with a varied offer of activities: conferences, debates, workshops, open days, participation in scientific dissemination events and festivals,... organized both in its facilities as in other external spaces, museums, schools, hospitals.

V State Congress of Bioscience Students

Date: July 15-18, 2026

Place: Faculty of Sciences, Granada.

Next July, Granada will host the fifth edition of the State Congress of Bioscience Students, whose main venue will be the Faculty of Sciences of the Fuentenueva Campus, organized by the Association of Bioscience Students (AEBI).


One more year, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia joins as an active collaborating entity of the event. On this occasion, the Biobank will participate with the organization of micro-courses and will also have an information stand dedicated to the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research.

Day of donation of blood and biological samples for research

Date: May 21, 2026

Place: Biomedical Research Centre, Grenada

On May 21, the Coordinating Node of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will join the blood collection organized at the Transfusion, Tissues and Cells Center of Granada at the Biomedical Research Center of the University of Granada.

From 10:00 to at 13:00, Biobank professionals will inform attendees about the importance of sample donation for biomedical research and invite them to collaborate by donating biological samples and data for various scientific projects.

Likewise, participants will have the opportunity to register in the Andalusian Registry of Biological Sample Donors to Biomedical Research, a key tool that facilitates citizen participation in the advancement of science and personalized medicine.

XXVIII Science Fair Parque de las Ciencias Andalucía-Granada

Date: 9 May 2026

Place: Parque de las Ciencias de Andalucía-Granada, Granada.

Next Saturday, May 9, the Science Park will celebrate the 28th edition of its Science Fair Science, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On this occasion, the SSPA Biobank will participate with an activity entitled ‘A biobank for research’. During the activity, attendees will have the opportunity to become biobank technicians and simulate the blood processing process and its subsequent storage in the bank to be used in research projects. In addition, information on the importance of sample donation for research will be provided.

The workshop will be held in two sessions, at 11:30 and at 14:00, in the Didactic Classroom 1, located in the Technophorus Pavilion of the Macroscope building. Don't miss out, we're waiting for you!

XX edition of the International Conference on Science in the Street, Diverciencia

Date: 7 and 8, may 2026.

Place: Plaza Alta and María Cristina Park, Algeciras (Cádiz)

On May 7 and 8, the city of Algeciras will be the setting for the XX International Conference on Science in the Street ‘Diverciencia’, an event that will bring together the scientific work carried out by students of Infant, Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate. The presentations will take place in Plaza Alta and María Cristina Park, and will be organized by the Association of Friends of Science. The main objective of this event is to provide students of various educational levels with the opportunity to exchange experiences, value the work of others and strengthen their critical capacity.

This event also seeks to promote scientific vocations, underline the relevance of science in everyday life, boost scientific education and disseminate the scientific and technological projects of the students to the community. In addition, the research work carried out by the students themselves is highlighted. In this edition, the SSPA Biobank will actively participate thanks to the professionals of the Provincial Node of Cadiz. At its stand, scientific workshops will be held and information will be provided on the importance of sample donation for the research.

Regional Healthcare Professional Family Days

Date: April 28, 2026

Location: Impressive Playa Granada Hotel, Motril

The Regional Conference of the Healthcare Professional Family is an event organized by the Teacher Training Center (CEP) of Motril and the Regional Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training. Its aim is to update the technical and practical knowledge of teaching professionals from the different healthcare branches.

The SSPA Biobank will participate in this conference by delivering a practical workshop focused on different basic techniques for working with cell cultures. The techniques covered will include cell counting using a Neubauer chamber, assessment of cell viability using trypan blue, cell subculturing, and evaluation of cell morphology.

Workshop 'Let's talk about Dementias'

Date: April 28, 2026 from 17:00 to 18:30

Place: Headquarters of the Illustrious College of Nursing of Granada

The School of Health and Care of the Official College of Nursing of Granada will hold a workshop on cognitive impairment on April 28 at its headquarters, located at Calle Ribera del Genil, 6.

The activity will include an informative talk given by the nurse of the Cognitive-Behavioral Neurology Unit of the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, as well as the testimony of a patient with Parkinson's. In addition, during the workshop an informative session will be offered on the importance of sample donation for biomedical research and on the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research by a professional from the SSPA Biobank.

IV Fair of Sociosanitary Associations and Social Welfare

Date: April 17, 2026

Place: Paseo de Linarejos, Linares, Jaén

On April 17, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will be present at the IV Association Fair organized by the City Council of Linares on the Paseo de Linarejos.

During this day, the professionals of the Provincial Node of Jaén of the SSPA Biobank will inform patient associations and the attending public of the importance of the donation of biological samples for the advancement of research, as well as the essential role that biobanks play in this area. They will also present the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research, an initiative that encourages citizen participation in health research projects.

Malaga Science and Technology Education Fair

Date: April 16-17, 2026

Location: School of Industrial Engineering, Campus Teatinos, Málaga

The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will participate in the Science and Technology Education Fair, which will take place in Malaga on April 16 and 17. This initiative, organized by the Territorial Delegation of Educational Development and Vocational Training of the Junta de Andalucía in Malaga, together with the University of Malaga (UMA), the Malaga City Council and the Provincial Council, seeks to bring science, technology and innovation closer to the public, paying special attention to the younger public.

On

the occasion of this appointment, the team of the Provincial Node of Malaga of the SSPA Biobank will launch different workshops adapted to different age groups. The little ones will be able to enjoy the activities "What is inside us" and "How we get sick", while ESO and Baccalaureate students will participate in "The journey of a sample".

III Ed. Course on Biomedical Research Support Structures

Date: november 15 - 22, 2026

Place: Virtual and face-to-face at Malaga Regional University Hospital

The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) launches, together with the training unit of the Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital, the first edition of the course ‘Support Structures for Biomedical Research’, a free 10-hour training aimed at staff of the Andalusian Health Service.

The course has 25 places and will be developed in blended learning mode, combining an online theoretical part through the GESFORMA platform, with a face-to-face session to be held at the facilities of the Regional University Hospital of Malaga. Currently, the course is in the process of being accredited by the Andalusian Health Quality Agency (ACSA).

Throughout the training, key contents will be addressed to support biomedical research, including ethical and legal aspects fundamentals, the operation of a biobank, and the handling of biological samples in research settings.
