The Biobank of Andalusia is equipped with new equipment to carry out new genetic quality controls on samples used in research studies
The equipment will improve the service portfolio of the cytogenetics unit, turning it into a reference unit for research in Andalusia.
The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA Biobank) is an organization that (provides) supplies biological samples to researchers to carry out their research projects in the different pathologies that affect humans.
The new equipment that the Biobank will have, will be located in the Coordinating Node in Granada, allows to improve the portfolio of services offered by the cytogenetic unit of the SSPA Biobank, improving the quality, safety and robustness of the unit's services with the modernization of analysis equipment, becoming a reference unit for research in Andalusia.
The funds received come from the 2019 Call for Research Infrastructures and Scientific-Technical Equipment of the State Program for the Generation of Knowledge and Scientific and Technological Strengthening of the R&D&I System convened by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia is organized as a network biobank formed by different associated nodes on provincial platforms, linked to health institutions and with a Coordination Node located in Granada. As a network biobank, it constitutes a resource platform that offers all types of biological samples and associated clinical data to researchers.
