The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia begins a campaign on the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research at the San Cecilio Clinical University Hospital

Today is the starting signal for the informative campaign on the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) and the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research (REDMI) that will be developed at the San Cecilio Clinical University Hospital during the months February, March and April.

The campaign is organized by the SSPA Biobank in collaboration with the Granadino Hospital and aims to raise awareness among the population of the importance of donating biological samples for biomedical research and encourage citizen participation in research. The Biobank aims to offer as much information as possible with the aim of showing researchers and citizens that the Andalusian Public Health System has excellent tools that allow biomedical research to advance.

This campaign will be developed using different media and supports provided by and distributed by the hospital and will be completed with a series of information sessions aimed at hospital professionals and citizens in general. The information sessions aimed at citizens will be held in the hospital's outpatient consultation hall through an information point on: February 24, March 5, March 23 and April 3, while the information session for professionals of the hospital will take place on March 24 in a day organized by the Hospital to celebrate its Anniversary. All these actions will be published throughout the campaign on social networks.

About the Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research and the SSPA Biobank

The REDMI is a database where citizens who are interested in participating directly in biomedical research by donating biological samples and their associated data are registered. This Registry is managed by the SSPA Biobank and has, since its creation in June 2015, approximately 1,500 registered people, who can donate any biological sample of human origin that is obtained by non-invasive processes such as hair, nails, feces, urine. , sweat, tears,... Any user of the public health system of Andalusia who wishes to register can register in the Registry, regardless of their age, health status or lifestyle habits. Registration can be done electronically through the Registry's website, www.soydonanteparainvestigacion.es, with a digital certificate, or by downloading and completing the form that appears on said website and delivering it to any of the Biobank nodes or sending it to email. of the Registry (registro.donantes.csalud@juntadeandalucia.es). In addition, they can also register for any activity organized by the SSPA Biobank and at the headquarters of the patient associations agreed upon with the Registry.

The SSPA Biobank is a resource platform that offers all types of biological samples and associated clinical data and a broad portfolio of services that includes sample processing, advice, custody and training. Its mission is to promote biomedical research by facilitating the work of researchers and promoting citizen participation. The SSPA Biobank is organized as a network biobank formed by different associated nodes on provincial platforms, linked to health institutions and with a Coordination Node located in Granada. As a network biobank, it constitutes a resource platform that offers all types of biological samples and associated clinical data to researchers.
