The Coordinating Node and the Provincial Node of Granada of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia obtain the certification of their Quality Management System according to the ISO 9001:2015 Standard

The SSPA Biobank Coordinating Node maintains its certificate obtained in February 2014, while the provincial Node of Granada is the first year that it has obtained it. This certification guarantees the improvement of services and the satisfaction of the scientific community, providing an important competitive advantage to the Biobank both nationally and internationally.

The Coordinating Node and the provincial node of Granada of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) certify their Quality Management System according to the international standards of ISO 9001:2015. This Standard certifies compliance with all the procedures and processes to which the samples are subjected and as well as the general management of the Biobank.

This new certification shows the commitment that the SSPA Biobank has to guarantee the quality of the samples and services offered as well as the search for excellence based on continuous improvement.

About the ISO 9001 Quality certification

ISO is the acronym for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the global body that develops international standards. In Spain AENOR assumes this role. The ISO 9001 standard specifies the requirements that the Quality Management System of any organization must meet. It is based on user satisfaction and attention and response to the expectations raised by all interested parties, in this case, clinicians, researchers and society. In the biobank sector, quality is not only an unavoidable technical requirement inherent to its activity, but also represents a legal imperative contained in Royal Decree 1716/2011.
