The Andalusian Biobank renews its commitment to the International Society of Biobanks
He will continue to serve as 'ambassador' in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for two more years. The ISBER is the main society for the promotion of the activity carried out on these research support platforms.
The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) has renewed its commitment to the International Society of Biological and Environmental Sample Repositories, ISBER, to continue representing this international entity in certain areas of the world.
In this sense, and at the express wish of the ISBER, this Andalusian research support platform will be an 'ambassador' of society for two more years, acting in the territories of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. And the SSPA Biobank, in fact, is part of the Regional Ambassadors Program of the international society, an initiative that makes it possible to publicize the activity of repositories and biobanks in the territories that are assigned. This work is carried out by the Andalusian Biobank professional Rocío Aguilar Quesada.
Among the functions it performs is the adaptation to the Spanish-speaking community of the material published by ISBER; promoting your events; the identification of new spaces where it can be present; the search for agents interested in establishing collaborations with society; and the dissemination of information and communications of interest to society in general and to biobank users in particular, to name a few tasks.
Participating in this program allows the SSPA Biobank to be the point of contact for ISBER and to be at the forefront in everything that concerns the activity carried out on this type of platforms, such as, for example, international quality standards; in the standardization of procedures; in ethical policies and principles; as well as good practices for the use and treatment of human biological samples. Likewise, this program allows you to be in direct contact with experts from all over the world, sharing and exchanging information, knowledge and tools.

Its Regional Ambassadors Program encourages professionals in the field to get involved in this type of partnership, whose objective is to create opportunities for the exchange of ideas, tools and innovations in biobanks internationally, harmonizing existing approaches and posing future challenges. .
About the SSPA Biobank
The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia is organized as a network biobank formed by different associated nodes on provincial platforms, linked to health institutions and with a Coordination Node located in Granada.
As a network biobank, it constitutes a resource platform that offers all types of biological samples and associated clinical data to researchers. At the same time, the Network of Tissue and Cell Transfusion Centers offers healthcare activity in this area framed in the structure of the Andalusian Health System (SAS).
