The IAVANTE Advanced Clinical Simulation Center in Granada hosts the fifth blood donation day at the PTS
Under the motto “On May 20 you can become a superhero”, the Ministry of Health and Families organizes this day to cover the needs that arise in the summer periods - 2022-05-13.
On Friday, May 20, starting at 09:30, the IAVANTE Advanced Clinical Simulation Center will host the fifth Blood Donation Day organized in collaboration with the Regional Blood Transfusion Center (CRTS) of Granada, the Biobank of the System Public Health of Andalusia and Andalusian Health Emergencies.
Under the motto “On May 20 you can become a superhero” (#DonarEsDeSUPERHEROES), this solidarity initiative aims to raise awareness among professionals and students who come to the Health Technology Park every day so that they can come and donate this vital fluid to the center. located at Avenida de la Investigacion, 21.
These actions are necessary to cover the needs that occur in hospitals during the summer season and to compensate for the increase in demand for blood generated by the decrease in the number of donors during holiday periods. For this reason, the CRTS maintains the call to citizens to go to the fixed donation point located near the Granada bullring with morning and afternoon hours (C/ Doctor Mesa Moles, s/n).
Furthermore, on this solidarity day, Biobank professionals will explain to all those interested what the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research consists of and how to become a donor. The Registry is an initiative to promote biomedical research, facilitating the close participation of citizens, in an environment that protects the rights of donors, hence its importance in research and advancement in disease treatments in our community. .
With the help of the blood donations obtained, many people's lives can be saved, since each of the 450 ml units of blood will be centrifuged in the CTRS to be able to separate and acquire concentrates of red blood cells, platelets and plasma. The importance of blood donation campaigns lies in the impossibility of manufacturing this vital fluid, which can only be transfused between humans. All experts indicate that donation is risk-free and, in addition to being necessary, it is beneficial for both the recipient and the donor, which is why it should become a common practice among citizens.
