The president of the Parliament of Andalusia, Jesús Aguirre, will inaugurate the delivery ceremony.

Excellence in healthcare is a goal pursued daily by the sector's leading professionals in Andalusia. To recognize and value their work comes the 1st Andalusian Health Awards Gala for Medical Writing, which is being held today, Thursday, April 20, at the Barceló Hotel in Málaga.
The inauguration of the ceremony, which has the collaboration of Abex Robotics, Air Liquide Healthcare and Gilead Sciences, will be carried out by the president of the Parliament of Andalusia, Jesús Aguirre. Catalina García, Minister of Health and Consumer Affairs of the region, will also attend an appointment that she will be in charge of closing.


The 52 nominations submitted for this edition of the awards compete in 13 different categories, each highlighting a specific area of healthcare. Among them are: Best Professional Career in Medicine, Best Initiative in Mental Health and Best Pharmaceutical Company.
It will be an exceptional jury who will have the difficult task of choosing the winners in each of the categories, a decision that will not be easy due to the high level of quality of the applications. These are the profiles nominated for the 1st Andalusian Health Awards.

NURSE

  • Isabel Amor Díaz. Nursing Supervisor of the ICU of the Reina Sofía Hospital (Córdoba). The unit's professionals have managed to reduce the incidence of pressure injuries and injuries in patients.
  • Yolanda Mejías Martín. Director of Nursing at the Virgen de las Nieves Hospital. This unit has renewed its accreditation as a Center Committed to Excellence in Care for the application of four clinical guides that guarantee good practices of nursing professionals in their daily work.
  • Teresa Salas Casado, deputy director of Nursing of the South Health Management Area of Seville; and David Pérez Martínez, Oncology nurse from the South Health Management Area of Seville. For its commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in nursing care practice.
  • Pilar Vallés Martínez. Nurse of the Campo de Gibraltar Oeste Health Management Area in the San García office, of the Algeciras Sur Health Center. For her work in the Care Plans working group of the Spanish Association of Palliative Care Nursing (AECPAL).

PHARMACIST

  • José Cabeza Barrera. Head of the Pharmacy Service at the San Cecilio Clinical Hospital (Granada). For its commitment to the patient, good practices and safety with its new clean rooms.
  • Emilio Campos Dávila. Responsible for the Pharmacy Service of the Campo de Gibraltar East Area. Through the circuit of accessibility to hospital medications for patients.
  • María Antonia Mora Mora. Head of the Pharmacy Unit of the North Jaén Health Management Area. He has stood out for the implementation of measures to guarantee medication reconciliation in hospitalized patients.
  • Ramón Alejandro Morillo Verdugo. Pharmacist of the Pharmacy Service of the Valme Hospital (Seville). For his leadership in the development of a practical guide on pharmaceutical care through Telepharmacy.

PATIENT ASSOCIATION

  • Association of Parkinson's Patients of Seville. With the aim of promoting and encouraging the personal and social autonomy of hospitalized patients, the Seville Parkinson Association has promoted an agreement with the Virgen Macarena Hospital.
  • Association of Laryngectomized People of Huelva. The volunteer program carried out by this movement has achieved official recognition by signing with the Infanta Elena University Hospital a collaboration agreement between both entities that regulates their relationship.
  • Association of Parents of Children and Adolescents with Cancer of Almería. She has been in charge of channeling the aid received to carry out the project 'The terrace of my recreation' at the Torrecárdenas Maternal and Child Hospital, in Almería.

INVESTIGATIVE ACTION

  • Allergology and Immunology Team at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital (Seville), for the identification of a gene that causes a rare autoinflammatory syndrome.
  • Francisco Moniche Álvarez, coordinator of the trial carried out by four Andalusian hospitals on stem cells to avoid sequelae after a stroke.
  • The Progreso y Salud Foundation, for its action in the fight against type 1 diabetes.
  • Integrated System of Genomic Epidemiology of Andalusia, for the publication of the first genetic tree of Legionella.

PRIVATE HEALTH CENTER

  • HLA Inmaculada Hospital (Granada). With more than 12,000 square meters of surface and 90 hospital beds, it directly employs almost 300 people. During the last year it has treated nearly 168,000 patients in its consultations, more than 83,000 emergencies and 13,400 interventions.
  • HM Malaga Hospital. This center offers care in more than thirty specialties, highlighting the surgical block as one of the most innovative services due to its technological equipment.

SCIENTIFIC SOCIETY

  • Andalusian Society of Cardiology. It has launched a new working group to address the differentiability of heart diseases based on gender.
  • Andalusian Society of Epidemiology. It recently held the First Andalusian Conference on Epidemiology.
  • Andalusian Society of Preventive Medicine, Public Health and Health Management. He works on specialty challenges, patient safety, vaccines and infection control.
  • Scientific Societies of Primary Care of Andalusia. They have launched the Andalusian Forum of Primary Care Doctors, a meeting point to analyze and propose solutions around this first level of care.

PRIMARY CARE CENTER

  • Martos Health Center (Jaén). This center participates in the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Program.
  • Miraflores de los Ángeles Health Center (Málaga). For its open days aimed at seniors.
  • José Gallego Arroba and Puente Genil II Health Centers (Córdoba). They have organized the III Conference on Cardiomarathon and Healthy Living Habits.

  • Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia. It celebrates 10 years since its launch by the Government of Andalusia.

  • María Asunción Martínez Brocca, head of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service at the Virgen Macarena Hospital (Seville) and director of the Comprehensive Diabetes Plan of Andalusia. It develops intense clinical research activity, which places it as a national reference in research within this field.
  • Mª Isabel Valdivia Jiménez, gynecologist at the Valme Hospital (Seville). Appointed Member of the Pelvic Floor Section in the Spanish Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics (SEGO).

HOSPITAL SERVICE

  • Stroke Unit of the Torrecárdenas Hospital (Almería). It has achieved reaccreditation with the distinctive 'Diamond' level for its “excellence” in the approach and treatment of this ailment.
  • Ophthalmology Service of the Virgen del Rocío Hospital (Seville). It has a new national reference unit, CSUR, for the treatment of orbital tumors.
  • Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory of Andalusia. The reference laboratory for antimicrobial resistance in Andalusia, located at the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville.
  • Pediatric ICU of the Regional Hospital of Malaga. In 2009, it was one of the first to allow patients to stay hospitalized with their parents for 24 hours.
  • PUBLIC HOSPITAL
  • Reina Sofía University Hospital (Córdoba). It has managed to be the most transplant hospital in Andalusia.
  • Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital (Málaga). It has successfully carried out the implantation of the first definitive intracorporeal artificial heart in the province of Malaga.
  • Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital (Granada). It is the first in Andalusia to have launched an Integrative Oncology unit.
  • Virgen del Rocío University Hospital (Seville). It has more than twenty centers, services and reference units for the entire National Health System.
