The consortium led by Flomics Biotech, in which the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) and Leitat Technological Center participate, held their second annual coordination meeting at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) on November 9 . The main objective was to analyze the status of execution of the research project that they carry out collaboratively, which aims to develop and implement a diagnostic solution based on the detection of RNA in blood to detect, early, up to five types of cancer (lung, colon, breast, prostate and pancreas).

At this meeting, consortium members finalized the workflow for the shipment of 600 samples in January 2024 from the SSPA Biobank to Flomics. In LiquiDx, the analysis of a total of 1,100 patient samples is planned. In this sense, the Leitat Technology Center is working on the protocol to process the corresponding samples and then be able to send them for sequencing.

It is important to highlight that this line of work is part of the LiquiDx project, associated with the action with action file number CPP2021-008897, which is funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union “NextGenerationEU/PRTR” , through the 2021 call for aid for public-private collaboration projects of the State Research Agency.
